Breakfast Buffet Experience
Hola! Melissa here, your go-to Spain travel blogger.
Are you a fan of hotel breakfasts? Because I absolutely adore them!
When I'm picking a hotel for my travels,
I seriously dig into reviews to make sure the breakfast buffet is top-notch.
It's that important to me.
While I don't always opt for breakfast in the hotel,
there's just something incredibly uplifting about starting your day with a delicious meal, right?
Today, I'm excited to share my review of a breakfast buffet that truly impressed me –
the one at Occidental Barcelona 1929 in vibrant Barcelona.

Occidental Barcelona 1929 Breakfast
Having already covered my room review for Occidental Barcelona 1929, where I stayed in Barcelona, today it's all about the breakfast. I stayed for two nights but only enjoyed breakfast there once, opting to explore local spots on the other morning.

The hotel room door felt quite solid, which is always a good sign. Haha. These days, I almost always hang the 'do not disturb' sign to prevent daily cleaning. After hearing too many stories about theft, I just leave it like that when I go out, requesting fresh towels separately if needed.
Breakfast starts at 7 AM, and since I had a tour meeting at 8 AM, I made sure to be there right when it opened.
First, let's take a look at the overall spread.

The first section you encounter features hot foods. You'll find items like chorizo and roasted tomatoes, among others.

Right in front of the kitchen, there's an area with cereals, cheeses, and cold cuts, with yogurt and fruits nearby. The selection isn't vast, but it's certainly enough for a satisfying breakfast.

I always grab a few of the roasted tomatoes, lightly seasoned with herbs, and since I'm a fan of Spanish sausage, that's a must-have too. To the right, you'll spot Spanish tortilla, and the sautéed vegetables were also quite tasty. Warm scrambled eggs were available, alongside baked beans and crispy bacon. I don't usually eat baked beans, but they always hit the spot at a breakfast buffet!

This corner is my absolute favorite at any hotel breakfast. There's a decent variety of hams and cheeses. The black-rimmed cheese at the bottom is Manchego, a famous Spanish sheep's milk cheese. To its left, you'll find Membrillo, a quince paste or jelly that pairs wonderfully with cheese.

You'll also find fruits, salad greens, and various toppings, while milk and yogurts are available on the right. Since I visited in March, the fruit selection might have been a bit limited, but it was still fresh. There are about four types of cereal in dispensers, along with various toppings. Chilled water and orange juice are also readily available.

The bread corner is, of course, a must-see! There are sweet pastries perfect for dessert and savory breads for your main meal. Though not pictured, there was also a station with freshly grated tomatoes, allowing you to prepare your own traditional Spanish 'pan con tomate' (bread with tomato).
While not an extravagant spread, I felt the breakfast was overall quite satisfying. Adding breakfast for just one day, knowing I had an early tour, was an excellent decision. Since my tour met at Plaça d'Espanya, I could enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then take a pleasant stroll to the meeting point, starting my day feeling perfectly refreshed and ready to explore!
I would definitely consider staying at Occidental Barcelona 1929 again if I return to Barcelona. I hope this detailed breakfast review was helpful.
Wishing you all a wonderful trip to Spain :)
Buen Viaje!
