Montserrat Tour from Barcelona 2026: Is It Worth the Trip?

When you think of Barcelona,

everyone says you absolutely *have* to do a day trip to Montserrat.

So, I decided to go on a day trip myself!!

Because it was

the most memorable place

in Barcelona,

I absolutely recommend Montserrat.

There are two ways

to get to Montserrat: independent travel VS guided tour.

If you want a flexible visit = Independent Travel

If you want to visit without worrying about a fixed schedule = Guided Tour

If you go to Montserrat independently,

you either have to rent a car

or take a train + mountain railway,

which can be a hassle, so I chose a guided tour!

The reasons I chose a Montserrat tour were:

➡️ With a tour, you can also visit Sitges,

allowing you to make the most of your time

➡️ Safety was important for a trip outside the city

I heard someone who went to Montserrat

After a comfortable ride on the private bus,

you'll arrive at Montserrat!

In Montserrat,

options like monastery admission, seeing the Black Madonna, choir performance, and museum entry

are additional choices.

You can select the options you want

and enjoy them.

If you don't want any of those,

you can simply spend your free time exploring Montserrat individually!!

The art museum is located separately in the basement.

I expected it to be small

and went without much expectation,

but there were actually so many artworks

and we had a truly meaningful time.

We made it all the way to the last viewpoint,

Sant Miquel!

It's only about a 50-minute round trip,

so you absolutely must go!

The views are absolutely breathtaking.

I just remember continuously exclaiming 'Wow...!' haha.

So, after spending our morning exploring Montserrat,

we headed to Sitges Beach in the afternoon.

This place is famous as a filming location for the drama 'Legend of the Blue Sea,'

but I actually haven't seen it, haha!

It was wonderful to get away from the city and enjoy the sea breeze for a bit!

On our way, we even stumbled upon some captivating busking;

the music was so good, tips just naturally flowed!

My husband and I probably listened for about 10 minutes.

If you're planning a trip to Barcelona,

I highly recommend visiting at least once!!

It's magnificent, beautiful,

and truly spectacular.
