Or a spacious place like an Airbnb?

And which area would be most comfortable to stay in?

There was more to consider than I thought.

The accommodation I finally booked after much deliberation was incredibly satisfying,

and my mom even praised it as the best place we stayed

on this Europe trip!

1. Barcelona Accommodation Selection Criteria for Traveling with Parents

Barcelona is a city with many tourists, so rather than just picking a place close to tourist spots,

I prioritized finding a neighborhood where we could feel relatively safe

walking around at night.

Since we'd be spending a good amount of time at the accommodation,

here's how I set my criteria:

1. A spacious area where we wouldn't feel cramped even with our suitcases open, and two beds.

2. A kitchen, washing machine, and TV were also essential.

(Even those who enjoy foreign food often crave Korean dishes during long European trips, so a kitchen is a must!)

4. An elevator was also essential due to my mom's knee issues.

traveling with my mom, I found an apartment-style accommodation with a kitchen to be better than a small hotel,

Places like Casa Milà are about a 15-minute walk,

and the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia aren't

too far, so they were easily accessible with a reasonable taxi fare.

If you book accommodation right in the heart of the tourist area, lodging costs go

up significantly. Instead, we decided to save on accommodation and comfortably use taxis! That was our mindset.

(Honestly, taxi fares weren't even that much...)

Safety was also very satisfying (not a single homeless person around).

It turns out this area is quite affluent within Barcelona and has a quiet atmosphere where locals live, which made me feel much more at ease traveling with my mom!

Plus, there were restaurants tucked away in every alley near the accommodation,

so I didn't feel scared even walking around late.

3. Room Condition and Facilities Review

I stayed in a two-bedroom + terrace unit.

What I was most satisfied with was the room's condition.

Honestly, I was a bit worried because there was only one Korean review when I booked...

Out of all the accommodations I've stayed in during my European travels,

this one is hands down the best in terms of condition!!

It was spotless, the facilities were excellent, and the beds were super comfy!

The first thing that really caught my eye the moment we stepped inside was

how incredibly spacious it was, much more than I expected!

(Easily accommodates 4 people!)

Many European hotels can have quite small rooms,

but here, we could spread out all our suitcases without feeling cramped in the slightest.

Plus, each room comes with both air conditioning and heating, which is super convenient!

Even the small room has a window!! And the condition is incredibly neat.

With two separate bedrooms, my mom and I each got our own space.

Even when you're traveling as a family,

you know how crucial it is to have your own downtime, right?..

Especially towards the end of a trip, that personal space becomes even more precious!

Having one bathroom in the master bedroom and another in the living room made things incredibly convenient!

Another major plus was the terrace.

Both my mom and I prioritize good ventilation and can't stand stuffy spaces, so having a balcony is a huge factor for us!

The terrace was so immaculately clean and well-maintained that you could comfortably dine out there.

It had a vibe straight out of a European drama – absolutely perfect! >_<

The kitchen literally has everything you could need... and then some!!

My mom, a true culinary pro, gave it her seal of approval!

The kitchen was so well-equipped with all the right tools that it was perfect for simply buying ingredients and whipping up our own meals.

As it's an apartment-style accommodation with a kitchen, they even provided thoughtful amenities like these:

dish soap, hand soap, trash bags, laundry pods, a scrubber, and a dishcloth.

And as a lovely welcome gift, we received snacks, tea,

and even five coffee capsules!

We put everything to good use, and it made our stay so much more comfortable.

4. Nearby Conveniences

Even though it's an apartment-style stay,

it operates with a dedicated front desk, which made check-in super smooth

and allowed us to conveniently store our luggage!

But best of all, knowing we could get immediate assistance if any issues popped up with the apartment was incredibly reassuring, even more so than I expected!

We actually had a minor mishap ourselves – we pressed the wrong setting on the washing machine,

causing a small leak. But as soon as we informed the front desk, an incredibly helpful staff member came right up

and sorted it out for us in no time!

Nearby, you'll find everything you need: a supermarket, bakery, cafes, and even an Oakberry for a refreshing treat!

We practically visited the supermarket daily,

grabbing fresh fruits, snacks,

and stocking up on water for the fridge. Being able to enjoy these simple, everyday routines truly made it feel like home, and that's all thanks to choosing an apartment-style stay!
