My Travel Journal, Starting After a Grand Journey of About 3 Weeks
After such a long flight, my body felt heavy with exhaustion,
but the first mission to tackle was to
get safely from Barcelona Airport to the city center!
Usually, people consider taxis or the metro,
but taxis are super expensive, and
with the metro, you have to drag heavy luggage, watch out for pickpockets, and often transfer, so we passed on that.
So, for our accommodation for this walk-centric trip, 'Room Mate Pau' near Plaça de Catalunya,
to get to 'Room Mate Pau',
taking the Aerobus, Barcelona's airport shuttle, was
the best choice for both cost-effectiveness and conserving energy!
What's more, the accommodation we chose was
just a 2-minute walk after getting off at the airport bus stop,
so the logistics were perfect from day one, which we loved.
Our 4-night, 5-day Barcelona adventure, let the Happiness Log begin! 🇪🇸
How to Find Your Luggage and Get to Barcelona Airport Bus A1 Stop
After getting off the plane, we followed the Baggage Claim signs
to quickly find our suitcases and make our way to the Exit area.

As soon as we exited the arrivals hall, we immediately spotted the light blue 'Aerobus' signs.

Continuing to follow the light blue signs,
you'll eventually see an escalator sign pointing downwards, marked 'Interurbans intercity'.
Follow this direction down one floor,
and you'll find the Aerobus boarding area along with an open-air outdoor bus stop.

As a quick tip, if you're arriving on a direct Asiana Airlines flight,
you'll disembark at Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 (T1).
From Terminal 1, you'll need to take the Aerobus A1 to get to the city.
If you arrive at Terminal 2 with a different airline,
you should take the Aerobus A2. So, make sure to double-check your arrival terminal!
Barcelona Aerobus Schedule and Round-Trip Ticket Kiosk Purchase
Upon arriving at the Aerobus boarding area, you'll see a digital display showing real-time arrival information for the A1 bus route.
There's no need to memorize or look up the Aerobus schedule separately,
because the buses usually run every 5 to 10 minutes,
so even if you miss one, the next bus arrives shortly, which is super convenient.

Right in front of the bus stop, you'll find Aerobus ticket kiosks.
I'd heard there are quite a few pickpockets targeting travelers at Barcelona Airport,
so I was pretty tense while buying the ticket and unfortunately couldn't get a proper shot of the kiosk screen during the process ㅠ
At least my partner was next to me, guarding our luggage and managed to snap one shot, hehe.

It wasn't difficult to buy the ticket on the spot; you just follow the kiosk's instructions and press the buttons.
However, right after arriving in Barcelona, I was quite tired and also
Being nervous, worrying about heavy suitcases and luggage,
and with so many people around, some kiosks had issues with card payments,
so I had to find a working kiosk, queue again, and get my ticket – it was a bit chaotic;
To avoid worries about pickpockets or payment errors on the spot,
some people prefer to book Aerobus tickets in advance for peace of mind.
They say you just need to show a QR code on your phone to board directly, no need to fumble around at the station.
With the Euro exchange rate being crazy these days, you might even be able to buy them cheaper if you apply travel platform coupons or card benefits, so keep that in mind!

On-site prices are €7.75 for a one-way ticket / €13.3 for a round-trip ticket
❗️An absolute must-know tip here❗️
If you're planning to return to the airport after your Barcelona trip,
you'll definitely save money by purchasing a round-trip (Return) ticket instead of a one-way ticket!
The return ticket can be used within 90 days of purchase, so a round-trip is always beneficial.
If you have a round-trip ticket, be careful not to lose the QR code receipt paper.
Just in case, I took a picture of it with my phone.

A1 Bus Boarding and Luggage Storage Review
Queue up along the sky-blue line inside the designated area,
and when the Aerobus arrives, scan your ticket QR code with the driver or staff member, then board.
We were a bit further back in the queue,
and once we got on the bus, we realized there were a lot of people heading from Barcelona Airport to the city,
so the bottom racks of the luggage storage area were already completely full;
Eventually, my partner struggled to lift our suitcase to the top compartment and found an empty spot.
If you want to put your luggage in more easily when boarding the bus, it seems better to stand closer to the front of the line.

Even though it's an airport bus where only ticket holders can board, we still couldn't feel entirely at ease in Barcelona,
so we sat in seats as close as possible to the luggage rack,
constantly checking on our suitcases throughout the journey.
Nevertheless, the bus interior was clean and comfortable.
Getting Off at Plaça Catalunya & Room Mate Pau Hotel (2-minute walk)
It takes about 35 minutes from the airport to Plaça Catalunya, the city center.
Since Plaça Catalunya is the final stop on the A1 route,
there was no need to check Google Maps to see where to get off in between,
which was convenient and great because we could just relax all the way to the end.
While preparing for this trip, my biggest concern was deciding on the location of our accommodation in Barcelona due to worries about pickpockets.
The 'Room Mate Pau' hotel we booked was an absolute gem in terms of location – it's just a 2-minute walk with our suitcases right after getting off at the Aerobus stop.
The path to the hotel wasn't bumpy European cobblestones but a smooth, flat surface,
making it super easy to pull our luggage, and we could get to our accommodation without any safety concerns on our first day in Barcelona.
✨
Everything was satisfactory: location, cleanliness, and safety.

First Night in Spain: Ending with a Simple Burrito Takeout
After safely completing our long flight and journey, we finally checked into our accommodation!
By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was past 9 PM.
Even though we were tired, it was our first night in Spain, so we had to eat something,
my partner and I bravely ventured out of the hotel.
I'll have to write about our burrito takeout from a late-night restaurant about 3 minutes from our hotel in the next post.
Our full-fledged Barcelona Gaudi tour is scheduled to start bright and early the next morning!🇪🇸
