You'll find it just off Palermo's main thoroughfare, right at the start of the path leading towards Quattro Canti and the Palermo Cathedral.

It's also not far from where Palermo's Sunday antique market sets up, so it's a great spot to combine with a leisurely stroll through the market!

While it doesn't have a flashy sign and can be a bit tricky to spot, if you see a bustling crowd gathered early in the morning on an otherwise quiet street, you've found the right place – that's our hidden coffee gem!

Ordering and Seating

There are no seats here. In Italy, coffee is traditionally enjoyed standing up at the bar – a quick 'one-shot' espresso while chatting with locals. It's all part of the vibrant Italian cafe culture!

As a foreign visitor, I naturally drew some curious glances from the locals. Soon enough, I found myself chatting with them – one was a local artist, and another, a true regular, was the one who introduced me to their incredible chocolate bread!

The towering stacks of used espresso cups offer a glimpse into the countless mornings already set in motion by the locals. This lively scene is truly a sight to behold at Palermo's favorite espresso bar!

With just one owner running the show and a constant stream of customers, I honestly don't know how he ever finds time to do the dishes!

The owner, with his neat shirt and distinguished white hair, exudes the aura of a true coffee master.

It's mesmerizing to watch him craft each espresso, and finally, my perfect cup arrived.

Initially, I ordered a croissant from the display, but then I spotted a local gentleman enthusiastically devouring a chocolate pastry. Curious, I asked him what it was, and he kindly ordered one for me (it seemed to come from a fridge or hidden spot).

They warmed it up slightly in the microwave, and served it toasty warm – it was the perfect companion to my coffee!

When I told him how delicious it was, the local gentleman gave me a hearty double thumbs-up!

It's practically a rule to have two espressos in Italy! I even added a Caffè Latte to my order. These small, authentic moments, where I, a traveler, can simply exist alongside the locals, are what I cherish most about my journeys.
