If you're planning a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, you'll likely find yourself at Asok (Sukhumvit) Station at some point. Terminal 21, a popular shopping mall in this area, is a frequent stop for many travelers, largely due to its renowned and budget-friendly food court.

While the food court is fantastic for a quick, affordable bite, sometimes you crave a more upscale dining experience. That's where a proper restaurant comes in!
For those special occasions, or just when you want to treat yourself, I highly recommend Savoey Seafood Restaurant's Terminal 21 Asok branch. It's perfect for family dinners or a romantic date night.
Getting to Savoey

Savoey's Terminal 21 branch is conveniently located on the 5th floor of the Terminal 21 shopping mall, right by Asok Station. You can take the regular escalators floor by floor, or if you're in a hurry, hop on the large express escalator that takes you directly up to the 4th floor, then a short ride up to the 5th.

Once you reach the 5th floor via the escalator, you'll find Savoey directly in front of you.

Inside Savoey

While Savoey is considered a more upscale restaurant with slightly higher average prices, they also offer a good selection of value-for-money dishes. Don't let the "fine dining" label intimidate you!
Even on a weekday evening at 7 PM, there was a wait, which speaks volumes about Savoey's popularity. It's clear this place is a local favorite, and for good reason! This isn't their only location either; Savoey has several other branches across Bangkok.

After about a 10-minute wait, we were seated—luckily, at a lovely window table! The restaurant features comfortable four-person tables, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive.
The Menu

Savoey's undeniable signature dish is the Pu Pad Pong Curry, or stir-fried crab with yellow curry powder. While it's a bit much for a solo diner, if you're visiting with a friend, it's an absolute must-order!
Here's a pro tip: while the whole crab curry looks impressive, it can be a bit messy to eat. Look for the de-shelled crab meat curry option—it's much easier to enjoy, and the succulent crab meat simply melts in your mouth.

The second signature dish is their crispy Fried Fish. If you're dining as a pair, one Pu Pad Pong Curry and one or two side dishes are usually plenty. Let me show you some of my top recommendations for those delicious sides!

The menu is quite extensive, so I can't go through every single page. However, you can't go wrong by choosing from classic options like Som Tam (papaya salad), Morning Glory (stir-fried water spinach), Khao Moo Yang (grilled pork neck), Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Yum Goong (spicy shrimp soup), or Spring Rolls. These are always crowd-pleasers!

Here's the Pu Pad Pong Curry that my friend and I absolutely adore. When I was a newbie traveler in Bangkok, I once made the mistake of ordering the whole crab version without realizing how cumbersome it would be. Now, I expertly order the de-shelled crab curry every time! Remember that rice isn't included, so be sure to order a side of steamed rice to perfectly scoop up all that flavorful sauce.

No matter how delicious a dish is, eating it alone can sometimes get a bit monotonous. That's where a refreshing Som Tam comes in! It's the perfect sidekick, cutting through the richness and adding a zesty kick. In Thai cuisine, you simply can't skip staples like Morning Glory or Som Tam—they complete the meal!

We decided to splurge a little and ordered the Fried Fish as well. It arrived looking exactly like the picture on the menu—golden and inviting. With chopsticks, you can easily flake off generous mouthfuls of tender fish. There were hardly any bones, and the seasoning was perfectly balanced, making it clear why this dish is a signature!

Finally, I highly recommend the grilled pork neck, known as Khao Moo Yang. It looks almost like a steak and tastes absolutely incredible! Dip it lightly in the savory soy-based sauce and enjoy it with rice—pure perfection. The individual side dishes are quite affordable, so definitely give Khao Moo Yang a try!

Seeing this spread again, my mouth is watering! If I ever win the lottery, I'd eat at Savoey every single day until I burst, haha!

So there you have it—my review of Savoey Seafood Restaurant at Asok Sukhumvit Terminal 21. If you're new to Bangkok and looking for a delicious seafood restaurant, or if you find the bustling food courts a bit too overwhelming and prefer a more elegant dining experience, this is the place for you. Its excellent accessibility makes it a breeze to visit, so go ahead and save this spot on your map!
