Considering a long stay in Bangkok? Our detailed 2026 review of Oriental Suite Ratchada covers its prime location, essential amenities, and honest pros and cons for digital nomads.
Quick answer
- Oriental Suite is ideal for long-term stays (2+ weeks), especially for budget-conscious digital nomads.
- Located a 10-minute walk from Thailand Cultural Centre MRT (Exit 4), next to Jodd Fairs Night Market.
- Check-in is 2 PM, check-out is 12 PM, with 24-hour reception/security.
- Rooms include good Wi-Fi, microwave, TV, and basic kitchenware.
- Room cleaning is weekly upon request; on-site coin laundry costs 40 baht (~$1), but an external laundry is recommended.
A year ago, I discovered Oriental Suite during a month-long stay in Bangkok, and I loved it so much that on my recent three-week visit, I didn't hesitate to book it for over a week again. If you're looking for a luxurious 5-star hotel with a pool, gym, or a resort-like experience, this isn't it. But if you're like me, planning a long-term stay of at least two weeks, then keep reading! Having stayed here for a total of around 45 days across my visits, I'm going to share every detail, both good and bad. I'm confident you won't find a more thorough review.

Oriental Suite Location

The main reason I chose Oriental Suite? Its location is simply unbeatable.
Most visitors to Bangkok tend to book accommodation near Asok (Sukhumvit) Station, or perhaps the luxurious hotels in the Lumpini (Silom) area. Ratchadamri (Pratunam) is also a popular choice, convenient for shopping malls. Oriental Suite, however, is just three MRT stops from Sukhumvit Station to Thailand Cultural Centre station. Take Exit 4, and it's about a 10-minute walk.

As you exit Thailand Cultural Centre station from Exit 4, you'll immediately find yourself at the vibrant Jodd Fairs Night Market. Walking through the night market is actually quicker than circling around the main road. It's a fantastic spot to grab souvenirs, enjoy a meal, or simply soak in the sights as you pass by.

What makes this area so great is the proximity to a massive Big C supermarket (with a Mini Big C convenience store on the ground floor) and a second-floor food court. Right next door is The Street Ratchada mall, which also boasts a food court on its top floor.

For quick essentials, you can pop into a nearby convenience store or the Mini Big C. You'll find everything from Starbucks and Burger King to various branded restaurants – truly, nothing is missing.

I often had lunch at the food court on the top floor of The Street Ratchada. While the Big C food court is also good, I just preferred The Street Ratchada's system where you load money onto a card. In the afternoons, I'd explore other areas, then often eat at the Terminal 21 food court at Asok station before transferring back, or grab a bite at Jodd Fairs Night Market.
Inside the Accommodation

During the day, staff are present in the ground-floor office, and in the evenings, a security guard is on duty. I checked in late at night without any issues. Entry and exit are managed via a card key system.

For digital nomads, the Wi-Fi here is excellent. Each floor has its own Wi-Fi router, so you can always pick the fastest connection available.

The presence of mailboxes suggests that some residents live here long-term.

This is what the room I was assigned this time looks like. While the exact layout of the bed and desk might vary slightly between rooms, the overall setup is similar. A nice upgrade from my stay a year ago is the addition of a microwave and a TV. Though, honestly, I barely use either.

There's also an extra table next to the door, perfect for enjoying a meal.

A wireless kettle, forks, spoons, plates, scissors, wine glasses, and cups are all provided as standard, so you don't need to buy your own cutlery or dining essentials.

The bathroom is perfectly functional, and the water pressure is fantastic.

For hot water, simply switch on the boiler above the shower, and you'll have steamy water in about 10 seconds. While shampoo and body wash are provided, it's always best to bring your own toiletries for personal preference.

Two large towels are thoughtfully placed on the bed.
Oriental Suite isn't your typical hotel or guesthouse; it operates more like a serviced apartment. Now, let's talk about the downsides. First, daily room cleaning is not provided.
"What? No cleaning even for a day? That's too much!" you might think. But it's actually not a big deal. You can use towels for about two days, then take them to the ground floor to exchange them for fresh ones. As for the floor, a few sweeps with the provided broom and dustpan keep it tidy, so it's hardly an inconvenience.

And trash? Each floor has a large trash bin conveniently located next to the elevator. Make sure to dispose of your trash promptly rather than leaving it in your room.
What about pillowcases and bedding? They can get a bit stale, right? If you request it, they offer cleaning once a week. This essentially encourages guests to book for a week or longer to take advantage of this service.
Despite these points, the location and price are simply unbeatable.

Also, the soundproofing isn't stellar. You might hear conversations from next door, so it's important to be mindful and keep noise levels down. If you plan on having lively discussions or being loud, you might want to consider another place.

For long-term residents, laundry becomes a concern. I recommend two methods. First, you can use the washing machines on the ground floor. There's a top-loader and a dryer, and you just insert 40 baht in coins and press play. The inconvenience here is the lack of a coin changer.
However, I strongly advise against using these machines. Last year, after doing laundry here for a month, many of my clothes got damaged. To avoid ruining your wardrobe, it's better to head to Trendy Wash, which is about a 7-minute walk away, even if it's a bit more effort.

This is a coin laundry located right next to Jodd Fairs Night Market, and thankfully, it has a coin changer.
You can sit there for about an hour, scroll on your phone, or pop over to a nearby convenience store. (It's a bit too tight on time to go back to the accommodation and return.)

As for nearby attractions, Chatuchak Market and Ari station, known for its trendy cafes, are relatively close by. For other tourist spots, you can easily get anywhere by taking the MRT from Thailand Cultural Centre station.
So, there you have it – my detailed review of Oriental Suite, a fantastic budget-friendly accommodation near Ratchada and Huai Khwang. If you're planning a long-term stay in Bangkok, don't hesitate to consider this place. I hope this local-level insight helps you plan your trip!
