Hello everyone! It's Dori here. 🏠✨
This is the bittersweet final episode of my Bangkok travel diary! Bangkok boasts a plethora of high-end seafood buffets in glittering skyscrapers, alongside countless local-style outdoor eateries. Our pick for this trip was 'Kodtalay' Seafood Buffet – a true local hotspot where you can savor fresh seafood right by the river!
Join me as I unveil the story behind my meticulous planning and our visit to a stunning cathedral. Let's dive into the last of my Bangkok tales!
🦀 Part 1. Kodtalay Seafood Buffet: An Epic Riverside Feast

Kodtalay has several branches across Bangkok, but we chose the one closest to our route and available for reservations. As our taxi navigated through winding alleyways, I honestly wondered, "Is this even the right place...?"
But there was a good reason for it! Turns out, the restaurant is perched right on a riverside embankment! The sheer size of the place is incredible. As soon as you step in, your eyes are drawn to a massive aquarium! They have a system where you can directly choose live crabs and shrimp from the tank, then have them grilled or steamed right away. Talk about freshness!
⛪ Part 2. My Inner Planner Revealed: A Tour of Assumption Cathedral

There was actually a hidden reason why I specifically booked the Kodtalay branch in this neighborhood. My travel companion, B, is a very devout Catholic. Originally, we had hoped to attend Sunday mass at a local Bangkok church (I heard they have separate English mass times), but our itinerary meant we'd be flying back home that weekend.
"If we can't make it to weekend mass, let's at least visit a cathedral along the way!"
That's right! Despite my seemingly laid-back demeanor, I'm quite the organized planner! *Ahem.* I truly patted myself on the back for matching our restaurant choice with a nearby cathedral. 😊
After our meal, we headed to the nearby Assumption Cathedral Bangkok. A Thai mass was in full swing inside the cathedral. We quietly entered, making sure not to disturb the sacred atmosphere, made the sign of the cross, and each offered a moment of heartfelt prayer before leaving.
It's truly fascinating how, similar to the Grand Palace, gold seems to be everywhere in Thailand, isn't it? Even in this historic Catholic cathedral, that cultural influence shone through – the statue of the Virgin Mary adorning the exterior of Assumption Cathedral Bangkok was resplendent in brilliant gold! While I couldn't tell if it was pure gold, the unique and beautiful ambiance, distinctly Thai, left a deep impression. I was also proud that it turned out to be a wonderful experience for B.
We wrapped up our last day in Bangkok with a meal at Kodtalay Seafood Buffet,
followed by a visit to the nearby Assumption Cathedral.
This itinerary offers a different vibe than the bustling city center,
making it a recommended route for those seeking a more relaxed day.
🎬 Concluding Our Bangkok Journey...
With the cathedral tour, our official Bangkok itinerary finally came to an end. Writing this brings back vivid memories of those hot, tiring, yet incredibly happy days, making me feel a wave of nostalgia.
Despite a few hiccups and sweating buckets, it was the best Bangkok trip, filled with laughter every moment thanks to my wonderful friend.
