Chom Arun Bangkok Review 2026: Best 5 PM Dinner & Wat Arun Views

When you go on a trip to Bangkok, don't you want to

have dinner with a stunning view of Wat Arun?

That's exactly what I wanted, so I made a reservation at Chom Arun Restaurant

and went!

Since I could see everything from the daytime view to the sunset and the nightscape,

if you're planning to visit during dinner time,

I highly recommend booking the 5 PM slot.

The 5 PM slot is the most popular time,

so it tends to fill up quickly. If your itinerary is set,

it's best to book in advance!

Dinner Part 1	5 PM ~ 7:30 PM	If you want to see both sunset and night view, this time is highly recommended!

I booked for 5 PM,

and at first, I wondered if it was too early for dinner.

But once I got there,

I immediately understood why this time slot is the most popular.

You can see Wat Arun brightly lit at first,

and as time passes, the sun sets,

and you can witness the magical moment as the lights come on, one by one.

Since 7:45 PM or 8 PM is solely for night views,

if it's your first visit, I'd definitely vote for the 5 PM slot!

However, this time slot tends to sell out quickly,

so if your Bangkok itinerary is confirmed, I recommend checking for availability at least a month in advance.

The Chom Arun Lunch & Dinner set I looked into was a

"Lowest Price Guarantee" product,

and if you found the same product cheaper elsewhere,

they offered a 2x refund on the price difference.

How was the Best Rooftop Spot: Seat #46?

I sat at seat #46 on the 3rd-floor rooftop.

Honestly, the main reason to come to Chom Arun is for

that perfect front-on view of Wat Arun, right?

From where I was sitting,

Wat Arun was perfectly visible, so I was personally very satisfied.

It was also great for taking photos,

and even though I was in the same spot, it was beautiful to see how the scenery kept changing as time passed.

One small drawback.

At 5 PM, the sun is really strong, haha!

It was quite dazzling at first,

so I thought it would be a good idea to bring sunglasses.

If you arrive a bit early, you can wait on the 2nd floor,

and the staff were generally very friendly.

And once the sun starts to go down,

you'll quickly forget about the initial heat and glare..

My Honest Review of the Food

To be completely honest,

the food was just okay...!

So, if you're solely considering the food,

I honestly wondered, 'Is it worth coming all the way here for this price?'

at first.

But then I considered its prime location right in front of Wat Arun,

the breathtaking view from sunset to sparkling night,

and the fact that the price includes the incredible experience of spending time there,

and it all made perfect sense! Haha.

So, rather than visiting it as a top Bangkok foodie spot,

it's better to think of it as enjoying a delightful dinner with an incredible Wat Arun view!

That's the best way to approach it.

Chom Arun... So, Would I Visit Again?!

I would definitely go again.

Not because of the food,

but entirely for that unparalleled view.

Bangkok has countless local restaurants that are

both more affordable and serve more delicious food than Chom Arun.

So, if the taste of the food is your absolute top priority,

I wouldn't necessarily recommend Chom Arun as your first choice.

However, if you dream of gazing at Wat Arun

and witnessing the transformation from daylight to sunset and then its illuminated night view all in one go,

it's absolutely worth a visit!

It's particularly a highly satisfying spot for trips with parents,

romantic couple getaways, or special anniversary dinners.

If you're planning a visit to Chom Arun,

definitely aim for the 5 PM slot.

This way, you can savor everything from the magical sunset glow to the stunning night view.
