Bali Private Car Tour Review: Custom Checkout Itinerary
Don't waste your last day in Bali waiting for a late flight. Here is why booking a 12-hour customizable private car tour is the ultimate travel hack.

That strange, bittersweet pressure that sneaks up on you at the very end of a trip...
I think we can all relate to this.
The heart-fluttering excitement of smelling the rich perfumes
at the airport duty-free shops is long gone,
replaced by a slight blues thinking about having to go back home.
Especially on the final day,
when you find yourself just lying in your hotel room
mindlessly scrolling through your phone,
that lingering post-holiday blues hit even harder.

That's why I chose to wrap up my Bali adventure
with a 12-hour private checkout tour.
Spoiler alert: it was a massive success!

With our heavy luggage safely stored in the car,
we could cherry-pick only the spots we wanted to visit,
wrapping up the trip on the absolute perfect note.

If you're planning your own trip to Bali,
I highly recommend checking out the private tour options
in the link below first!

Why I Chose a Private Car Tour
When you search for South Bali tours or checkout tours,
Uluwatu Temple is almost always included in the itinerary.
But since I don't have the best memories
when it comes to wild monkeys,
I really wanted to skip it.

And that is the absolute best part of a private tour!
Instead of a rigid, pre-planned schedule,
we can customize it to only visit the places we actually want to see!
And to make communication super easy and comfortable,
we opted for a Korean-speaking guide.

He was the same guide who went with us on our Nusa Penida tour,
and since he was so kind, gave amazing explanations,
and took incredible photos, we requested him specifically
as our designated guide for this tour too!
If you're curious about our guide, drop a comment below!
I'd be happy to share how to request him :)

Honestly, it is a bit more expensive
compared to hiring a local Indonesian-only driver.
But throughout the entire drive,
we could ask all our burning questions about Bali,
and get friendly insights into local history and travel tips,
making it worth every single penny.
Our Custom South Bali Tour Course & Itinerary

To make the absolute most of our time before our flight,
we set our South Bali tour duration to 12 hours.
But even if it’s not your last day,
booking a car for just 6 to 10 hours in the middle of your trip
to hit the highlights of the south is also a fantastic option!

✅ The Mind-Blowing Scale of Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK)
After days of eating, drinking, and relaxing at the resort,
checking out a grand, monumental spot like this on the final day
is the quintessential way to end a trip, don't you think?
GWK Cultural Park is a must-visit spot
that is almost always included on any South Bali itinerary.

Pro-Tip:
There is a free shuttle from the parking lot to the ticket booth.
But the park itself is massive and offers very little shade,
making it almost impossible to explore entirely on foot.
Buying the buggy car service is not an option—it’s an absolute must!

If you take the buggy, it drops you off right at the very top by the majestic Garuda statue,
where you can snap plenty of photos of a lifetime,
before catching it back down.

On the way down, we were even treated to
a high-quality traditional performance.
What to bring: There is very little shade, so make sure to pack a hat, parasol, and sunglasses!
Single Fin & Suluban Beach: A Feast for Your Eyes and Tastebuds

Bali is the ultimate surfing mecca!
Although I didn't quite have the courage to jump into the waves myself,
just watching the talented surfers ride the waves
gave me plenty of vicarious satisfaction.

At Single Fin, perched right on the edge of the cliff,
I had a delicious lunch while gazing out at the wide-open ocean view.

After eating, to walk off my lunch,
I headed down to check out Suluban Beach right below.
Combining these two spots
makes for the absolute perfect itinerary
for a southern Bali tour.

Chasing the Sunset at a Secret Spot I Wanted to Keep to Myself

As a self-proclaimed sunset lover,
unless something unexpected comes up,
I always make sure to catch the golden hour when traveling.
While searching the web this time,
I discovered an absolutely mind-blowing spot!

I skipped Uluwatu Temple because of the notorious monkeys,
but from this spot, even from afar,
you can get a stunning, panoramic view of the temple cliffs.
The waves crashing into white foam down below the cliffs
were truly spectacular.

It’s not overcrowded with tourists yet—
word is just starting to get out.
So, with a cold Bintang beer in hand,
I watched the clouds drift across the sky
and enjoyed a beautifully laid-back sunset.
It has gotten a bit more popular now than when I visited,
and more people know about it,
but if you're curious about the Google Maps location of this secret spot,
leave a comment below and I'll quietly share it with you!
A Must-Do Massage Before Heading to the Airport
The highlight of any checkout tour!
Getting squeaky clean and washing up before boarding,
followed by a relaxing massage to melt away all your fatigue.

We headed to a local spa recommended by our guide,
and treated ourselves to a soothing aromatherapy session.
After a refreshing massage and a nice shower,
I knew right then I’d be completely knocked out the moment I boarded.
Thanks to that, I was guaranteed a solid sleep on the flight back home.
And One Crucial Pro-Tip
For those reading this post,
here's a budget-saving tip for your Bali trip!

During my recent trip to Bali, I discovered
'a small tip to save money on Bali private tours.'
Since it might depend a bit on luck,
I'm a bit hesitant to write it out in the open here...
If you're curious about this tip, leave a private comment!
I'll share it with you in a reply as soon as I see it.

From luggage storage to custom routes and adjusting the southern Bali tour schedule,
being able to customize everything to our liking
thanks to the private car tour
meant our final day was completely stress-free.
Having them drop us off at the airport right on time for our flight
was the absolute best way to wrap up our trip without any hassle.

To end your trip on a smooth and beautiful note,
the Bali private checkout tour
is highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any precautions or transportation tips for visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park during a South Bali tour?
GWK Park is quite spacious and has very little shade, so it's a good idea to bring a hat, parasol, or sunglasses. Also, walking under the scorching sun can be exhausting, so we recommend purchasing a buggy service to comfortably reach the Garuda statue at the very top.
How should I set the car rental duration for a private checkout tour in Bali?
If you want a full itinerary before boarding your flight, it is best to set the tour duration to 12 hours. Even if it's not a checkout tour, you can also rent a car for about 6 to 10 hours in the middle of your trip to explore the main courses in the south.
I want to skip Uluwatu Temple because of the monkeys. Is there an alternative place to watch the sunset?
There is a quiet, secret spot where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the temple and crashing waves from a distance without actually going to Uluwatu Temple. You can get the specific Google Maps location of this place by leaving a comment for the author.
How is it best to combine visits to Single Fin and Suluban Beach during a South Bali tour?
We recommend having lunch first at Single Fin, located on a cliff, while enjoying the panoramic ocean view. After eating, you can head down to Suluban Beach right below to walk off your meal and watch the surfers.
