My Review: An Amazing Bali Trip for Around ~$1,280 Per Person!

I'm definitely a planner, the type who gets most excited during the trip planning phase. Lately, I've been helping a lot of friends plan their getaways and find the best deals, so it feels like I'm constantly traveling vicariously!

They're always amazed when I find flight and accommodation prices they couldn't uncover themselves. That's where I get my satisfaction – helping others snag those incredible deals!

I recently visited Bali this past May (2026). Even though May is a popular time, especially for honeymoons, we managed to keep our total costs for Korean Air flights, accommodations, food, and all other expenses to just around ~$1,280 per person.

What's even better? We explored a lot! We even ventured out to the Gili Islands and stayed in four different places across Gili, Ubud, and Jimbaran. Yes, we moved accommodations almost every day! We packed in snorkeling, relaxing massages, and exciting beach clubs – truly making the most of every moment.

My Bali trip in May 2026 cost around ~$1,344 per person in total.

I booked my flights a bit early and found a fantastic deal on Korean Air for around ~$384. Since it was a 7-hour flight, I opted for an emergency exit row seat with an extra fee to ensure I could stretch out comfortably.

When it comes to accommodations, I'm quite particular. My top priorities are facilities and hygiene, so I tend to avoid extremely budget-friendly options. However, I was thrilled with all our stays!

We enjoyed a range of options, from a private pool villa Airbnb for around ~$64 per night to a fantastic resort costing about ~$192 per night.

For activities, visiting the Gili Islands to see turtles was a must! We went snorkeling and saw countless turtles, which was an incredible experience.

We also indulged in two massages in Bali – one at Ubud Karsa Spa and another at a spa near the airport. Karsa Spa was by far our favorite! We booked an outdoor room in advance and enjoyed a truly unique and relaxing massage experience, surrounded by the sounds of birds and flowing water. (The airport spa was primarily for their convenient pick-up/drop-off service, but the massage itself wasn't particularly satisfying, so I wouldn't highly recommend it).

We even spent our last day at a fantastic beach club where we were the only Asian visitors – a truly local experience! We made sure to enjoy every moment.

Our final night was spent at the amazing Ayana Resort, where we fully enjoyed all the facilities, including the stunning pools, the iconic Rock Bar, delicious breakfast, and the fitness center. It was the perfect way to cap off our trip!

Our 4-night, 6-day itinerary was incredibly fulfilling. We managed to do everything we set out to do, making it an incredibly satisfying Bali trip for both me and my travel companion. When we tallied up the total expenses, my friend was particularly delighted by how affordable the Bali trip turned out to be!

That's the kind of satisfaction that drives me to meticulously search for the best deals!

Between planning my own upcoming trips and helping friends with theirs, I often feel like I'm experiencing travel indirectly, which is pretty exciting.

It's always a win when the budget-friendly options I find are significantly cheaper than what my friends can dig up themselves.
