Wrapping up a fantastic Tokyo adventure and heading back to Narita Airport? That was exactly my situation on a recent trip. With my flight scheduled for 8 PM, I had plenty of time after checking out of my hotel, so I decided to explore Asakusa one last time before making my way to the airport.
However, lugging around my baggage or going back to the hotel to pick it up seemed like a huge hassle. That’s why I opted for an airport luggage delivery service, sending my bags directly to Narita Airport ahead of time.

When it comes to getting from Asakusa, Tokyo, to Narita Airport, the most convenient and fastest option is typically the Skyliner.
It offers reserved seating for all passengers and dedicated luggage space, ensuring a comfortable journey.
If your accommodation is near Nippori or Ueno, you have a lot of luggage, or you're traveling with young children or elderly parents, the Skyliner is definitely my top recommendation for getting to Narita Airport.
You can reserve your seat and departure time, and it's the quickest option, so you won't have to stress about making your flight on time.
2. Skyliner vs. Keisei Access Express: A Comparison
Since we had already sent our luggage to the airport and had plenty of time, we decided to take the Access Express instead of the Skyliner from Asakusa to Narita Airport.

3. My Experience: Access Express from Asakusa to Narita Airport Terminal 1
While it’s best to book Skyliner tickets in advance, you can purchase Access Express tickets on the day of travel at a vending machine or simply tap your Suica card.
The fare was 1,380 JPY.
Asakusa Station serves both the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and the Toei Asakusa Line. To catch the Access Express, you need to head to the “Toei Asakusa Line platform.”
Regular metro trains also use the same tracks, so make sure to check the train display for “Access Express” before boarding.
The interior of the Access Express is similar to a standard subway car, meaning seating is first-come, first-served. It's a bit of a gamble whether you'll get a seat!
Since we didn't have any luggage, standing wasn't a huge issue for us. However, if you're traveling with a lot of bags, or with parents or young children, it could definitely get tiring. The journey is about an hour long, so if you really want to guarantee a seat, it's worth heading to Nippori or Ueno to catch the Skyliner!
The Access Express is popular not just with airport travelers but also with Tokyo locals, so it can get crowded. We had to stand for the first part of our journey, but thankfully, seats opened up about halfway through, and we were able to sit down.
Upon arriving at Narita Airport, I successfully collected my luggage that I had sent via the delivery service. Everything went smoothly!
Overall, I was quite satisfied with my experience taking the Access Express from Asakusa to Narita Airport.
We had sent our luggage ahead, and even though it was a family trip with my child, my middle school-aged kid was fine with standing for part of the journey.
However, I highly recommend choosing your transport based on your specific travel situation.
