An izakaya visit is an absolute must-do when traveling to Tokyo.
On my recent trip to Tokyo, I visited a famous budget-friendly izakaya chain called
365 Sakaba (3・6・5酒場)

This spot operates under the motto: "Cheap, delicious, and fast!"
With incredibly low prices and a massive variety of small plates,
it’s the perfect casual izakaya to visit without breaking the bank.
While they have multiple branches in busy hubs like Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro,
I decided to visit the Akasaka location, which was close to my hotel.

Akasaka is primarily a business district, meaning it is much less
touristy and crowded than Shinjuku or Shibuya.
The bar was packed with local office workers winding down after a long day,
giving it that authentic, local izakaya atmosphere we were searching for.

2. How to Order at 365 Sakaba

Once you are guided to your seat, the staff will hand you a QR code.
Simply scan it with your smartphone to open the digital menu and place your order.
While there was no dedicated English paper menu,
the mobile ordering system had English options.
Even if you run into any translation issues, you can easily use your browser's auto-translate tool.
It takes away all the anxiety of ordering in a foreign language
since you don't have to verbally call over the staff.
3. Honest Food Review

The interior of the Akasaka branch is cozy and intimate,
vibing exactly like the classic drinking spots you see in Japanese dramas.
The menu is incredibly diverse, making it great for
either a full dinner or just sharing a bunch of small plates with friends.

Our first order was the absolute star of 365 Sakaba:
their signature Iron Plate Gyoza.

This is a non-negotiable must-order!
Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and pairs perfectly with a cold beer or highball.

Next was the Crab & Egg Stir-fry.
A soft, Chinese-style fluffy egg dish.
Simple, comforting, and delicious.

For drinks, we ordered a mega-sized highball and an Asahi Zero.
Since my friend wasn't drinking alcohol that night, the non-alcoholic option was a lifesaver!

If you are a non-drinker or pacing yourself, I highly recommend Asahi Zero.
It replicates the crisp, refreshing taste of real draft beer unbelievably well.

Still a bit hungry, we added an order of
Fukuoka-style Stir-fried Pork and...

some crispy Kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers).
Since it's a budget izakaya, many dishes lean toward fried or stir-fried options,
which make them the absolute best companions for ice-cold beer and highballs.
Even after ordering all this food and multiple rounds of drinks for three people,
our grand total came out to just under ~$32 (5,000 JPY)!
The value for money at 365 Sakaba is truly unmatched in Tokyo.
Surrounded by solo diners and groups of locals chatting,
we had an incredibly fun, authentic night out.
4. Tips & Etiquette for Visiting Tokyo Izakayas
To wrap things up, here are a few essential tips
to keep in mind when visiting izakayas in Tokyo.
✅ Watch Out for "Otoshi" (Table Charge)
Many traditional Tokyo izakayas serve an un-ordered starter dish
and charge a mandatory table fee (otoshi) of about $2.00 to $3.50 per person.
365 Sakaba is famous for having no otoshi charge,
making it exceptionally budget-friendly and stress-free for travelers!

✅ Don't Seat Yourself
Even if you see plenty of empty tables inside,
always wait at the entrance until a staff member greets and guides you to your table.
✅ Keep Track of Time Limits
During busy peak hours or weekends,
some popular izakayas enforce a strict 2-hour dining limit.
It's always good practice to keep an eye on the time!

If you want to experience a true Japanese neighborhood vibe,
enjoy hassle-free QR code ordering, and keep your wallet happy,
definitely add 365 Sakaba to your Tokyo itinerary!

It is located a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Akasaka-mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro. Business hours are from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM from Monday to Thursday and on weekends, and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day on Fridays.
You sit at the table you are guided to by the staff and order by scanning the provided QR code with your smartphone. There is no Korean menu, but an English menu is provided, and you can easily order using a smartphone translator.
When 3 people ordered various snacks and drinks, including the signature iron plate gyoza, crab meat egg stir-fry, and kushikatsu, the total came to less than 5,000 yen. It is a highly cost-effective izakaya as the snacks are served at low prices.
No, 365 Sakaba is a bar that does not charge any otoshi for basic snacks. Unlike typical Tokyo izakayas that charge a table fee of about 300 to 500 yen per person, there are no additional costs here.
