Yundol Island Quick Facts

✔ Location: Gujora-ri, Irun-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do
✔ Starting Point: Gujora Beach
✔ Access: Only accessible via kayak, paddleboard, or jet ski (no pedestrian access)
Yundol Island is a true summer hotspot in Geoje.
Preserving its untouched, rugged nature,
this hidden gem offers crystal-clear waters and schools of fish,
making it a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts.
How to Get There: Transport Comparison

✔ Rental Operator: Geoje Sejeong Leisure Sports (445 Gujora-ri, Irun-myeon, Geoje-si)
✔ Located about a 5-minute walk (approx. 0.2 miles) from Gujora Beach
✔ Operates seasonally under a large shade canopy near the shore (no permanent building)
Rental Options & Rates
Type | Capacity | Price | Key Features |
Kayak | 2 People | ~$38 | Great for carrying gear; can be physically demanding when waves are strong. |
Paddleboard (SUP) | 1 Person | ~$32 | Fun challenge, but easy to lose your balance and fall into the water. |
Jet Ski | 1 Person | ~$32 (Roundtrip) | The fastest way to get there, but drops you at a buoy; requires swimming to the shore. |

The jet ski ride is incredibly thrilling and
gets you close to the island in just about a minute.
However, it doesn't drop you directly on the beach.
Instead, you get off at a floating buoy
and must swim the remaining distance to the island.
The water is deep and can feel quite cold,
so be mentally prepared for a quick swim!

If you have a lot of gear, a kayak is much more practical.
For families or groups, a great strategy is to split up:
send the kids and heavy bags on a kayak,
while others take the fast jet ski ride.

✔ Life jackets are included for free with your rental / No strict time limits on rentals
✔ Once you pay, you receive a wristband. When you are ready to return, call the number on the wristband for a pickup.

Essential Safety Regulations

Before heading over to Yundol Island, make sure you review these safety rules.
✔ Stay within the designated boundaries of Yundol Island
✔ Life jackets must be worn at all times in the water
✔ Harvesting marine life (sea urchins, shellfish) is strictly prohibited during leisure activities
✔ No fishing / No alcohol consumption
✔ Keep electronics in a secure waterproof pouch (kayaks/boards can capsize)
✔ Portable gas stoves, lighters, and open flames are prohibited
While you can leave larger bags at the rental shop,
they do not take responsibility for valuables.
We highly recommend bringing essential items in a reliable waterproof bag.
Snorkeling Packing List

Yundol Island is entirely rocky.
The shoreline is covered in sharp stones and barnacles,
making sturdy water shoes absolutely mandatory.
What to Pack:
✔ Sturdy water shoes (thick soles recommended)
✔ Swim fins (long fins are better than short fins for the current)
✔ Snorkeling mask & snorkel
✔ Waterproof phone pouch or dry bag
✔ Long-sleeve rash guard & leggings (to protect against sharp rocks and barnacles)
✔ High-energy snacks (like chocolate bars) – you will get hungry quickly!
Save this checklist to make packing easy!
Best Snorkeling & Cave Points

🤿 The Main Snorkeling Spot:
Facing the island from the floating buoy, head about a 5-minute swim to the left.

🚤 The Cave Point:
Facing the open sea from the island, head to the right side.
The area in front of the cave has fewer jagged rocks,
making it the perfect spot for a bit of diving.

The water clarity is fantastic, and the marine life is highly diverse,
which is why this spot is so beloved.
Visibility can vary slightly depending on the tide,
but overall it is great for South Korea's coastline.
✔ Watch out for sea urchins hiding in the rocky crevices.
One of our group members accidentally got stung!
✔ Please note there are no active lifeguards stationed on Yundol Island.
✔ When surfacing, always look up to avoid incoming kayaks or paddleboards.
Be a responsible traveler and carry all your trash back to the mainland.
After about 40 minutes of swimming, you'll definitely feel the burn.
Take breaks, eat some snacks, and pace yourself to stay safe.
Parking & Shower Hacks

✔ Gujora Beach Public Parking: Free
✔ Sejeong Leisure Sports Private Parking: ~$6/day

Yundol Island cannot be accessed on foot, so you must use a kayak, paddleboard, or jet ski. The rental fee is ~$38 for a two-person kayak, and ~$32 each for a single-person paddleboard and a round-trip jet ski ride.
The jet ski is very fast, taking only about 1 minute, but you will be dropped off at a floating bridge made of buoys rather than directly on the island. From the buoys to the island, you will have to swim across water where your feet cannot touch the bottom.
If you look at the island from the floating bridge and go left for about 5 minutes, you will find a snorkeling spot with many fish. Conversely, if you look at the sea from the island and go right, you will find a cave spot with fewer rocks, which is great for diving.
Instead of using the company's parking lot, which costs ~$6 per day, it is recommended to use the free parking lot at the nearby Gujora Beach. When using the shower facilities after playing in the water, you can get a ~$1 discount by showing the company's wristband.
