Yongin Korean Folk Village (한국민속촌)
An ideal spot for a family day out, perfect for a birthday celebration!
Recently, despite the slightly warm weather requiring short sleeves, my husband, our two children, and I visited Yongin Korean Folk Village (한국민속촌) 🩵
We opted for the afternoon pass to ensure a relaxed visit, allowing us to leisurely explore the expansive village, enjoy some thrilling rides, and savor delicious market snacks.
I'm excited to share our honest pros and cons from visiting with kids, along with valuable tips for free parking, to help you plan your own memorable trip! 🥰
01. Parking Tips, Afternoon Pass Entry & Discount Hacks

We were initially concerned about crowded parking on a weekend, but thankfully, the Gyeonggi Gugakwon (경기국악원) parking lot was also available. While the main gate parking lot charges a fee, the Gyeonggi Gugakwon parking lot is completely free, which helped us save money and park with ease – a definite win!

We decided on the afternoon pass, which was perfect for a relaxed visit, allowing us to explore and enjoy the rides without feeling rushed! At a reasonable price of ₩20,000 (~$15) per person, it was a budget-friendly option. Yongin Korean Folk Village frequently offers various ticket discounts each month, so it's always a good idea to check their website before you go!
Discount Category | Price | Notes (as of Oct 2026) |
Birthday Discount! | ₩13,000 (~$10) | Up to 3 companions get tickets for ₩20,000 (~$15) each |
Public Transport User Discount | ₩17,000 (~$13) | Show transportation card (within 30 mins of getting off) |
Gyeonggi Resident Discount | ₩21,000 (~$16) | ID required |
Hanbok Wearer Discount | ₩19,000 (~$14) | Must be wearing a Hanbok |
Afternoon Pass (Entry from 2 PM) | ₩20,000 (~$15) |
If you're wondering where to go for a birthday, Yongin Korean Folk Village is a fantastic choice, right? If none of these specific discounts apply to you, you can still find tickets for around ₩20,000 (~$15) per person through the link below, which is often more affordable than the official site.
02. Outdoor Market Snacks and Facilities <Menu & Prices>

Typically, food inside tourist attractions or market stalls can be expensive, so we ate outside before entering.
However, once inside, we were pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices were at the market!

Moreover, beyond the market stalls, there were plenty of outdoor tables set up, creating a wonderful al fresco dining atmosphere. Sitting in the shade, enjoying the gentle breeze while snacking, was both charming and convenient 😋
I'm already thinking that next time, we'll plan to have a full meal at the market! 👍🏻

Around the market, triangular-roofed Mongolian tents and ample outdoor tables provided a perfect setting for a lively outdoor market vibe. When we got hungry from walking, it was ideal to grab snacks like tteokbokki or smoothies and relax under the shade of a tree. One minor drawback was the dirt paths, which could make stroller wheels and shoes quite dusty.

Nevertheless, the presence of a free stroller rental service and a first aid room near the entrance made it easy and reassuring to explore with children.
03. Ghost Experience and Photo Zones <Rides>

As we walked through the village, we noticed witty ghost characters roaming amidst the traditional Hanok scenery! There were long lines of people waiting to take photos with them.
Many parents were eager for their kids to have a playfully spooky encounter... and we were among them! ㅋㅋ

The kids were fascinated and enjoyed taking photos with the ghosts, making for a slightly thrilling yet fun memory.
04. Visiting with International Friends? Essential Tips!
Recently, Yongin Korean Folk Village has become a popular destination for international tourists, drawn by its traditional culture and Joseon Dynasty concept! If you have foreign friends or are planning to visit with international guests, be sure to share these helpful tips with them.

We slowly walked through the scenic areas, then headed to the amusement ride section, where we had a blast on the Ferris wheel and other attractions.

We saved the amusement park area for last, knowing it would be hard to leave once we entered, haha! And sure enough, both our kids' eyes lit up with excitement! The Folk Village suddenly transformed into a fun fair. I truly believe you could easily spend a whole day here with a full-day pass :)

There was a surprising variety of fun and exciting rides. Many attractions were suitable for kids over 43 inches (110 cm). Our eldest was just shy of 43 inches, so we'll definitely be back for him to try them next time. The wide-open spaces were perfect for the kids to run around freely, making it an excellent spot to burn off some energy! ✨
