I Walked Through Lost Valley, Not Just Rode By!
Remember riding the safari bus through Everland's Lost Valley? Well, get ready for an entirely new adventure! There's now a fantastic program that lets you explore Lost Valley on foot!
It's called the Wild Savannah Expedition. I personally visited on 10/03/2026, and let me tell you, experiencing the animals up close, walking among them instead of just peering through a bus window, was a completely different and thrilling feeling.

What is This Program All About?
This program invites you to explore Lost Valley, an ecological safari, on foot instead of by vehicle. What's even better is that the River Trail, previously a paid section, is now open for free, allowing you to get incredibly close to 15 different animal species, including giraffes, elephants, and rhinos.

The entire course starts from the Lost Valley entrance and spans approximately 0.6 miles. And here's a fun bonus: if you complete the entire trail, you'll receive a commemorative explorer certificate! This is a special autumn-only program, running from September 12th to late November, so it's not available year-round. Make sure to plan your trip accordingly!
Location & How to Get There — Head to the Path Next to Amazon Express
Finding your way there is a breeze. Just take the path right next to Amazon Express, and you'll quickly spot the entrance to the Wild Savannah Expedition. Using Amazon Express as your landmark means you won't get lost!
Reservations, Price, & Q-Pass — Just Walk Right In!
This is probably what you're most curious about! Based on my visit on 10/03/2026, there was no separate reservation or Q-Pass required. You can simply enter directly at the entrance.
There's also no additional fee; your Everland admission ticket covers the experience. The operating hours were from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. To avoid disappointment, make sure to schedule your visit during the daytime, as you might not be able to enter if you arrive too late in the afternoon. Keep that in mind!

Viewing Rules — Important to Check Before Entry
Since you'll be getting up close with the animals, there are a few important rules to follow.
Many visitors purchase balloons at Everland, but please be aware that you cannot bring balloons into this area. Also, while it might be tempting to give your kids a piggyback ride, that's not allowed either. Make sure to review all the guidelines before entering!

My Review — Animals Are So Much Closer When You Walk!
The biggest advantage of exploring on foot is undoubtedly the chance to see the animals much closer and more vividly. With the bus tour, it often felt too quick, leaving me wishing I had more time. But walking allows you to linger as long as you like in front of your favorite animals. We encountered a truly diverse range of creatures, from camels and llamas to majestic elephants and towering giraffes.

Seeing a giraffe stretch its long neck right before my eyes made me gasp in awe at its sheer size. And watching an elephant pluck grass with its trunk up close was absolutely mesmerizing.

Being able to explore Lost Valley on foot was a truly incredible experience. I'm sure kids, especially, would absolutely adore this adventure!

Overall Verdict

The Wild Savannah Expedition turned out to be a far more special experience than I anticipated. Walking through Lost Valley, which I'd only ever seen from a bus, was truly unforgettable. The entrance is conveniently located just off the path next to Amazon Express, and during my visit, there were no reservations or Q-Passes needed, making it super easy to enter.
Being on foot allowed for incredibly close and vivid encounters with camels, llamas, elephants, and giraffes. The best part was being able to linger and observe the animals for as long as I wished. Just remember to familiarize yourself with the viewing rules – no umbrellas, balloons, or piggyback rides – and since it only runs until late November, be sure to include it in your Everland itinerary if you're visiting this fall. It's an absolute must-do, especially if you're traveling with kids!
