Villa De Leaf Phetchaburi Review 2026: Bangkok's Rural Escape
Escape Bangkok's bustle at Villa De Leaf Phetchaburi. This serene riverside resort offers spacious rooms, a pool, and starry nights—your perfect tranquil Thai retreat.
Late last year, after finally settling into my new home in Thailand, I found myself eager to explore some of the country's lesser-known cities.
Having already visited popular spots like Kanchanaburi, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai multiple times, I decided it was time for something new.
This led me to plan a trip to Phetchaburi and Ratchaburi.
The drive from Samut Prakan took about 2 hours and 40 minutes, bringing us to Phetchaburi.
The first thing that struck me upon entering the city was its profound tranquility.
Unlike the bustling tourist hubs, Phetchaburi unfolds with endless rice paddies, farms, and quiet roads, where nature seems to outnumber people.
It felt like experiencing Thailand's version of a peaceful countryside retreat, a concept that's become quite popular.
For our tranquil escape in Phetchaburi, we chose to stay at 'Villa De Leaf.'

Surprisingly Spacious Rooms

The first thing that impressed me when we opened the door to our room was the sheer sense of space.
Although it's a studio layout, it felt much larger than typical hotel rooms. The high, vaulted ceilings, mimicking the roofline, prevented any feeling of claustrophobia, and the expansive windows offered wonderful openness.
We actually stayed with three adults, and it never felt cramped.
The room features one double bed, one sofa bed, a work desk, and a spacious lounging area, making it suitable for family vacations or even a peaceful 'workcation.'
The interior design was also far more modern than I had anticipated.
Expecting a traditional, rustic vibe from a Phetchaburi countryside accommodation, I was pleasantly surprised by its contemporary feel, more akin to a newly built hotel in Bangkok.
Rooms with an Outdoor Bathtub and Veranda
Just outside the room, on the veranda, there's a bathtub. It’s perfect for an open-air soak, and while we didn't use it, it looked ideal for a relaxing half-bath after a swim or unwinding in the evening.
The veranda also has a table and chairs, great for enjoying a morning coffee or getting some work done on your laptop.
But this space truly shines at night.
Lying back on the veranda chairs, with the surrounding darkness, you can effortlessly gaze at the twinkling stars.
That moment of 'stargazing bliss,' listening to the sounds of crickets from the veranda, is still a vivid memory.
The Pool and the Serene Riverfront

Villa De Leaf's swimming pool felt even larger in person than in photos.
Since there weren't many guests during our stay, we had the pool almost entirely to ourselves, enjoying it to the fullest.
Even at night, with the lights on, the pool area had a lovely ambiance.
A river flows alongside the pool, with a charming path for riverside strolls. There are even swings installed along the way, perfect for a peaceful rest.
It was delightful for quiet morning walks or evening breezes.
This kind of unhurried relaxation is a rare find in bustling Bangkok.
Value for Money?
With weekend rates ranging from ~$102 to $115,
considering it accommodates three adults, includes breakfast, and offers a swimming pool, riverside walks, an outdoor bathtub, and spacious rooms, it felt like excellent value.
Especially when three people share the cost, the price per person significantly drops, making it an even more budget-friendly option.
Small Tips for a More Enjoyable Journey
The narrow alley leading to the resort requires a bit of caution if you're driving for the first time, but even this adds to the charm of the journey.
Along the way, we noticed several durian farms.
If you happen to visit during durian season, I highly recommend stopping by a nearby farm to purchase freshly harvested, inexpensive durians.
Also, if you're interested in a boat tour on the river, you can easily arrange it through the hotel front desk. It's a convenient option to keep in mind.
(We had our own car, so we found a cheaper option and booked separately.)
