To help you choose the best option for your budget and luggage, we've broken down four popular ways to reach the heart of Valencia.
Table of Contents |
1. Metro |
2. Bus 150 |
3. Taxi & Uber |
4. Valencia Tourist Card |
5. Final Thoughts |
1. Metro
This is hands down the most popular way to get from Valencia Airport to the city. The metro station is directly connected to the airport's Level 0 (underground), making it incredibly convenient.
We even took the metro to our accommodation!

🚃 Routes
Both Line 3 (red) and Line 5 (green) serve the airport. Both lines pass through the central city stations of Xàtiva and Colón, so just make sure you're heading in the right direction.

⏰ Journey Time
You'll reach Xàtiva station, home to the City Hall Square, in just about 20-25 minutes.
💶 Fares & Tickets
A single journey costs approximately ~$5, plus a mandatory ~$1 deposit for the reusable cardboard card. So, expect to pay around ~$6 initially.

🍯 Pro Tip
If you're traveling with two or more people, consider purchasing a SUMA 10 pass. This 10-ride ticket allows multiple travelers to tap in with a single card, and it's significantly cheaper than buying individual tickets. It's a definite win if you're staying for a few days! To use it, simply tap the card, let one person pass, then tap again for the next person. Even if it's a paper card, it works just like a regular one.
🌟 Recommended For
Travelers with moderate luggage and accommodations near a metro station.
2. Bus 150

For those who don't mind a slightly longer journey and prefer a scenic, budget-friendly option, the local Bus 150 is a fantastic choice.
🚌 Where to Catch It
Once you exit the Arrivals Hall at the airport, you'll spot the yellow Bus 150 stop. You'll need to cross one more crosswalk past the taxi stand to find it.

🗺️ Route
This bus travels through residential areas like Mislata before reaching the city center at Plaza de España.
⏰ Journey Time
The journey takes around 40-50 minutes, which is a bit longer than the metro.
💶 Fare
A single ticket costs approximately ~$2. You can pay the driver directly with cash. Make sure to have exact change!

🚨 Important Notes
The Bus 150 often doesn't operate on Sundays and public holidays, so if your travel dates fall on a weekend, double-check the schedule! The service frequency is also quite long, around every 30 minutes, so it's best for those with plenty of time. There isn't much space for large luggage, so it's ideal for light packers.
3. Taxi & Uber

You can choose between taking a traditional taxi or using a ride-sharing app like the familiar Uber.
If you have a local SIM card and a Spanish phone number, you can also use the Cabify app (it requires local number verification).

🚕 Taxis
You can easily catch a taxi from the designated taxi stand just outside the airport. The ride to the city center, including the airport surcharge, typically costs around ~$22-$32. Taxis in Valencia are generally reliable with fixed-rate pricing, so you can feel safe from overcharging. (Note: prices can vary slightly depending on traffic conditions.)
🚗 Uber
Just like other ride-hailing apps, Uber allows you to easily book a car through your phone. It's incredibly convenient, especially if you have a lot of luggage, as it drops you right at your accommodation's doorstep. You can also see the estimated fare upfront, which offers peace of mind.

⏰ Journey Time
You'll reach the city center in about 15-20 minutes, making it the fastest and most comfortable way to travel.
🌟 Advantages
If you're traveling as a family or with a group of three or more, splitting the cost of a taxi or Uber can often be more economical and convenient than taking the metro.
4. Valencia Tourist Card

For travelers with a short itinerary who want to dive straight into exploring Valencia right after landing, the Valencia Tourist Card is highly recommended.
📍 Where to Buy
You can purchase it at the Tourist Information Desk inside the airport or from self-service machines.

🌟 Benefits
Available for 24, 48, or 72 hours, this card offers unlimited free use of all public transport (buses, metro, trams), including the airport line! Plus, you get free entry to municipal museums and discounts at major attractions.
💶 Price
Prices start from ~$18 for a 24-hour card. Considering the round-trip metro fare to the airport and city travel, this offers excellent value.
5. Final Thoughts

Valencia is a major city, and its public transportation system is incredibly well-developed.
My personal recommendation? If your accommodation is near a metro station, go for the metro. If you're arriving late at night with heavy luggage, Uber is your best bet.
I hope this post helps you have a fantastic and smooth start to your Valencia adventure!
