Grand Circle Itinerary 2026: Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Guide
Discover the magic of the American Southwest! Our 2026 Grand Circle guide reveals how to explore Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon, complete with itineraries and photo tips.

The three majestic canyons of the US West's Grand Circle – Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce –
are considered the ultimate itinerary to experience
overwhelming natural landscapes, incredible hiking, and stunning photo opportunities
all in one unforgettable journey.
Based on my own recent trip,
I've put together an easy-to-understand guide to the Grand Circle's three major canyons,
starting and returning from Las Vegas,
making it easy for you to plan your adventure!
What is the Grand Circle?

The Grand Circle in the southwestern US
refers to a vast natural travel route
centered around Las Vegas.
With endless sandstone canyons and colors and terrains that vary dramatically from one park to another,
it feels like the scenery is constantly transforming even just while driving.
While a typical itinerary spans 3 to 5 days,
you have a wide range of options, from a quick car tour hitting the main highlights of each national park to a full-fledged hiking adventure.

Grand Canyon: What comes to mind first
is undoubtedly its overwhelming scale.
Standing on the cliff's edge, its depth and width are so vast they stretch
beyond what you can grasp in a single glance,
and watching its colors shift with the time of day
is truly mesmerizing.

Zion National Park:
This is the place where you can most vividly experience
what it feels like to ‘walk directly into a canyon.’
Massive sandstone cliffs rise like majestic screens on both sides, and simply moving along the long valley that stretches between them
feels like being part of a continuous, epic scene in itself.
.

Bryce Canyon National Park:
The landscape of thousands of densely rising red Hoodoo pillars
is the iconic symbol of this park. The colors truly come alive and are most vibrant at sunrise and sunset,
making it a particularly popular spot for photographers.
Each park offers a completely different atmosphere,
and the ability to encounter new natural wonders with every move, even on a short trip,
is the Grand Circle's greatest charm.
Grand Canyon: The Pinnacle of Grandeur

Located in northern Arizona, the most popular area for travelers
is the South Rim. It's well-equipped with viewpoints and visitor facilities,
making it easy for visitors to explore efficiently.
On the other hand, the North Rim is at a higher elevation and sees fewer visitors, allowing you to enjoy the colossal canyon in a more tranquil setting.

Recommended Itinerary Options
At the Grand Canyon, ‘enjoying views from overlooks’ and ‘trekking’
are the two most fundamental ways to experience its majesty.
As you travel along the South Rim's viewpoint line (from Desert View to Mather Point), the Grand Canyon's
terrain and colors unfold differently at each section,
offering a rich variety of views even on a short trip.
If you're looking for a moderate hike, I highly recommend the Bright Angel Trail.
Even if you don't complete the entire round trip and just descend for about an hour and come back up,
you'll encounter the unique spectacle of viewing the canyon's geological layers and immense scale from ‘within’ its depths.
Entrance Fees (as of 2025)
7-day pass per vehicle: $35
If you plan to visit multiple parks, an Annual Pass is more cost-effective. It allows unlimited national park entry for one year and costs $80.

💡Travel Tip
▪️Visiting during sunrise and sunset is a must. The sandstone layers
The colors change most dramatically, revealing completely different scenery even from the same spot, depending on the time of day.
▪️During summer, temperatures are very high, increasing the risk of dehydration during hikes. Water, a hat, sunscreen, and light snacks are essential, and it's safest to avoid trekking in the midday sun.
▪️In winter, there are significant temperature swings between day and night, and there's a possibility of sudden localized heavy snowfall, so it's recommended to prepare winter gear.
▪️The distances between viewpoints are longer than you might expect, so planning your itinerary in advance will significantly impact your trip's satisfaction.
