Bangkok Riverside Dining at Its Finest
Thara Thong: Sunset & Night Views of ICONSIAM
Finding the perfect place to eat in Bangkok can be a bit of a challenge, especially when the intense humidity drains your appetite.
Even after checking out some highly rated spots popular with tourists, I found that many didn't quite hit the mark for me.
But then, I stumbled upon a true gem. It is a stunning restaurant where I had one of the best meals of my entire trip. Interestingly, it seems to be a favorite among Western travelers while remaining relatively under the radar for others.
If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience, let me share my full review of Thara Thong!

1. Welcome to Thara Thong

📍 Thara Thong
2 Charoen Krung Road Soi 30, Siphya, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
🍽️ Thara Thong Quick Info
Location: Inside the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers
Hours: Daily 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Reservations: Highly recommended (Online booking available)
Nestled directly across the river from the massive ICONSIAM mall, Thara Thong is located inside the prestigious Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel.
As you would expect from a luxury hotel restaurant, the service here is absolutely impeccable—attentive, warm, and highly professional.
Since it is very popular with international travelers, the entire staff speaks fluent English, making communication and ordering completely seamless.

Travel Tip: There is a free shuttle boat running between ICONSIAM and the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel.
It makes it incredibly convenient to spend your afternoon shopping and exploring the mall, then hop on the boat right in time for a gorgeous dinner.

The interior features a rich, dark teakwood design that feels incredibly elegant, soothing, and culturally authentic.
They offer traditional floor seating, but with a comfortable twist: there are sunken leg wells beneath the tables so you can stretch your legs out easily.
It offers the charm of traditional Thai dining without any of the discomfort.
Thara Thong opens at 6:00 PM. I highly recommend arriving right at opening so you can watch the sunset paint the sky through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows. It is absolutely magical! ✨

They also have an outdoor terrace area beautifully illuminated with warm lighting, offering a direct, unobstructed view of ICONSIAM across the water.
The surrounding city lights and passing riverboats create a stunning, romantic atmosphere.
However, because Bangkok evenings can get quite hot and humid (often staying above 85°F), I recommend dining in the air-conditioned indoor area and simply stepping out onto the terrace before or after your meal to take photos.

Honestly, no matter where you point your camera, the views from Thara Thong are spectacular. 👍
