My Top Bangkok Restaurant Recommendation
An Amazing Night View Dining Spot Facing ICONSIAM
During my recent trip to Bangkok, maybe because of the intense heat,
even when I visited popular restaurants with rave reviews from fellow travelers,
nothing quite hit the spot, and my taste buds were struggling a bit.
But there was one restaurant where I genuinely had an incredible meal!
I was actually the only Korean diner there—it seemed to be
highly popular and well-known among Western travelers instead.
Let me share my absolute favorite Bangkok restaurant discovery with you!

1. Thara Thong

📍 Thara Thong
2 Charoen Krung Rd, Siphya, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
🍽️ Thara Thong
Address: 2 Charoen Krung Rd, Siphya, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500
Hours: Daily 18:00 ~ 22:00
Online reservations available in advance
This restaurant is located inside the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel,
right across the river from the ICONSIAM shopping mall.
As expected of a high-end hotel restaurant, the service went far beyond my expectations—
it was absolutely flawless and so satisfying!
Since it's a popular Thai dining spot for Western travelers, most of the staff
speak excellent English,
so communication was incredibly smooth and easy.

There's actually a free shuttle boat running from ICONSIAM to the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel,
making it super convenient to head over for dinner
right after you finish shopping at the mall!

The entire restaurant has a calm, clean vibe with warm dark-brown wood tones.
It features traditional floor seating, but with a clever cut-out under the table
so you can comfortably stretch your legs underneath.
The overall aesthetic beautifully showcases traditional Thai heritage.
Thara Thong opens its doors at 6:00 PM,
which means you get to catch the gorgeous sunset the moment you step inside.
The view through the floor-to-ceiling windows is absolutely jaw-dropping... ✨

They also have outdoor terrace seating, which is beautifully lit
and offers a very romantic atmosphere with a direct view of ICONSIAM right across the river.
Aside from ICONSIAM itself, the twinkling lights from the surrounding hotels and riverside restaurants
truly make this a spectacular spot for taking in Bangkok's night views.
However, because the weather in Bangkok can be intensely hot, I wouldn't recommend actually dining outdoors.
Instead, I highly suggest sitting inside and just stepping out
before or after your meal to snap some photos!

Even if you don't focus on the main view, every single corner is incredibly photogenic.
That's Thara Thong for you! 👍
2. The Menu

Since this is a Bangkok hotspot popular with Western travelers rather than Korean tourists,
the menu is only in Thai and English.
But don't worry! There are detailed descriptions in English,
and the physical menu has photos of the dishes,
so ordering was super easy.
3. Bangkok Foodie Experience

As you'd expect from a luxury hotel restaurant, the service was absolutely top-notch.
The staff poured my beer with the same care and elegance
you'd expect for an expensive wine, which instantly lifted my mood
before the food even arrived! 😙

Before the main course, they serve a complimentary crispy and savory snack
to enjoy with your beer. If you dip it in the sauce,
it gives it a nice spicy kick.
And funnily enough, the dipping sauce tasted just like gochujang (Korean chili paste) lol.

Out of all the options on Thara Thong's menu,
I decided to order the pork curry.
It turned out to be the absolute best meal of my entire Bangkok trip—
I literally wanted to go back the very next day!
While I also loved the famous Poo Phat Phong Curry at Northeast (a tourist favorite),
the curry at Thara Thong was on another level.
It was much richer and creamier,
and the pork was so tender it literally melted in my mouth, just like braised pork belly.

At first glance, the portion seemed a bit small,
but they really packed the rice in, so it was surprisingly generous.
Once you pair it with the freshly served naan, you'll be completely stuffed!
I was so full that I had to leave a little bit of curry behind,
but it was so good I seriously contemplated asking for a doggy bag.

Just a quick tip: the curry at Thara Thong is topped with crushed peanuts.
If you have a peanut allergy,
make sure to let the staff know beforehand!
4. Restaurant with a Stunning Night View

As the sun went down and the sky grew darker,
the indoor ambiance truly began to shine.
While Thara Thong is famous for its stunning outdoor river views,
the interior itself is incredibly elegant and luxurious.
I highly recommend coming right at 6:00 PM when Thara Thong opens.
That way, you can catch the sunset and watch the city light up
for a magical night view while enjoying your meal!

You can easily make a reservation through Google Maps,
which connects to Eatigo, SevenRooms, and Chope.
It is available on these three platforms,
and booking is as simple as choosing your date, time, and party size—
so definitely give it a try!

This incredible Bangkok hotspot, Thara Thong, sometimes hosts
traditional dance or live musical performances right in the dining room,
so it would be absolutely amazing if you could time your visit to catch one!
Not only was the food delicious, but the service was also impeccable.
It is a stunning night-view restaurant looking out over IconSiam,
and the indoor ambiance is beautifully elegant, capturing the essence of Thai charm.
I highly recommend checking out Thara Thong in Bangkok!!
Thara Thong is open daily from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. If you visit right at the opening time of 6:00 PM, you can enjoy everything from the sunset to the night view of Bangkok, including ICONSIAM.
You can take the free shuttle boat from ICONSIAM to the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel. It's a great idea to plan an itinerary where you explore the shopping mall first, then take the boat over to the restaurant for dinner.
The pork curry at Thara Thong is typically garnished with peanuts. Therefore, if you have a nut allergy, you must inform the staff before ordering.
You can make a reservation through three websites linked with Google Maps: Eatigo, SevenRooms, and Chope. You can easily book online by selecting your visit date, time, and the number of people.
