Table Lay Sejong Review 2026: Fresh Handmade Pasta
Planning a special dinner in Sejong City? Here is our honest review of Table Lay, a popular fresh pasta spot in Dajeong-dong perfect for date nights.
Ahead of our upcoming move to Sejong City, we visited the area to check on our new place.
Naturally, I couldn't resist checking out my pre-saved list of local eats in Dajeong-dong. At the very top of my culinary bucket list was Table Lay, a highly recommended spot.
Whenever I travel or move to a new neighborhood, I love researching and saving local restaurants and must-visit spots in advance.
It drastically cuts down the chances of a dining fail, and honestly, it makes exploring a new neighborhood so much more exciting.

Among the many recommendations I gathered, one name kept popping up: Table Lay, a cozy restaurant specializing in fresh, handmade pasta.
If you want the quick takeaway: both the atmosphere and the quality of the food absolutely lived up to the hype.
However, because it is incredibly popular, making a reservation is highly recommended. Given the price point and portion sizes, it feels less like an everyday lunch spot and more like the perfect venue for a romantic date night or a special anniversary celebration in Dajeong-dong.

Tips for Visiting Table Lay
The Popular Pasta Spot in Dajeong-dong

Since we were on a tight schedule with our home renovation appointments, we arrived right as they opened at 11:30 AM.
We accidentally ended up being the very first customers of the day! Since we aren't usually the type to wait in line for openings, we had a good laugh about it, saying, "Hey, there's a first time for everything!"

As soon as we walked in, the staff politely asked if we had a reservation.
Even though we hadn't booked in advance, we were able to get seated immediately since we arrived right at opening.

At first, I didn't think much of it, but as I sat down and looked around, I noticed almost every other table had a "Reserved" sign on it.
Seeing most of the dining room fully booked before the lunch hour even kicked off made me realize just how popular this Dajeong-dong gem truly is.
If we had arrived even 15 minutes later, we probably wouldn't have been able to get a table.
Based on my experience, I highly recommend making a reservation through Naver Booking before you visit, whether it's a weekday or a weekend.
Cozy Vibes and Aesthetic Interiors
Sejong's Go-To Pasta Restaurant

Stepping inside, the warm and inviting ambiance immediately caught my eye.

The natural sunlight streaming through the windows, the rich wooden accents, and the fresh flowers on every table created a remarkably calm, elegant, and sophisticated atmosphere.
We had a packed schedule that day, so we couldn't linger as long as we would have liked, which was a real shame because the vibe was absolutely lovely.

What really set the tone and showcased their culinary expertise was the specialized fresh pasta display fridge near the entrance.

Seeing varieties like tagliolini and tagliatelle neatly arranged in the fridge immediately let us know that Table Lay is incredibly serious about their craft.
Guanciale Carbonara & Amatriciana
Our Honest Review
My husband and I decided to order the Guanciale Carbonara and the Amatriciana.

Shortly after ordering, we were served warm focaccia bread accompanied by balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
The bread was perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside, making the short wait for our main courses fly by.

Guanciale Carbonara (~$15)
I had been dying to try a proper Guanciale Carbonara ever since seeing it featured in a culinary video online.
When it arrived, the first thing that hit me was the aromatic freshly cracked black pepper, followed by a subtle, savory smokiness. The fresh pasta clung beautifully to the sauce, offering a wonderfully rich, velvety texture.
However, to be completely honest, it wasn't quite a perfect match for my husband's and my personal palates.
It wasn't that the dish was bad by any means—it's just that the highly traditional, egg-and-cheese-only Roman style of carbonara is a bit different from the creamier adaptations we are more accustomed to.
Even though it wasn't our absolute favorite, it was still a fascinating and authentic culinary experience that we were glad to try! Haha.

Amatriciana (~$12)
On the other hand, the Amatriciana was an absolute hit for both of us.
The bright acidity of the tomatoes combined with a gentle kick of chili heat made it incredibly easy to eat. The thick, robust sauce coated the handmade noodles perfectly, and we polished off the plate in no time.

Alternating bites between the rich, creamy carbonara and the tangy, spicy amatriciana made for a really fun contrast in flavors.
Fresh Pasta vs. Dried Pasta:
A Matter of Preference

As you'd expect from a restaurant famous for handmade noodles, Table Lay's fresh pasta has a completely different texture compared to standard dried pasta.
As the meal went on, the noodles continued to absorb the sauce, which gradually shifted the texture. This is actually where my husband and I had slightly different opinions!
I personally loved the soft, slightly chewy, and tender bite unique to fresh pasta. My husband, however, isn't a fan of noodles when they lose their firm bite, so he realized he actually prefers the al dente texture of high-quality dried pasta.
It was fun to see how we could eat the exact same dish and have such different takeaways! It really highlighted the unique characteristics of handmade pasta.
If you're like my husband and prefer your noodles on the firmer side, we highly recommend eating your fresh pasta as quickly as possible once served!
📍 Table Lay (테이블레이)
2nd Floor, Dajeong Center Plaza 2, 39 Dajeongjungang-ro, Sejong Special Self-Governing City
By the end of our meal, it was easy to see why Table Lay is so highly recommended as a top dining spot in Dajeong-dong.
However, from my perspective, the portions felt a bit on the smaller side. When you factor in the price point, it's less about finding a budget-friendly meal and much more about enjoying a beautifully curated dining experience and atmosphere.
That's why I think you'll get the most out of your visit if you save it for special occasions, date nights, or anniversaries rather than a casual weekday lunch.
It was the restaurant I was most excited to try before our move to Sejong, and I'm happy to say it lived up to our expectations. As we settle into our new neighborhood, I have a feeling Table Lay will be the first place that comes to mind whenever we have something to celebrate!
