2. My Review of the Affordable Lunch Omakase at Sushi Ichi Suwon

We visited on a Friday at 11:30 AM,
and there were about four other groups joining the same session!
Before entering, they confirmed our name and party size,
then guided us to our seats.

We were seated at the bar, alongside other guests who had booked for the same time.
Two skilled chefs prepared and served each dish right in front of us,
explaining what each sushi was and the best way to enjoy it.
The experience unfolded as a delightful 12-course meal!

We started with a warm bowl of miso soup,
which was perfect for warming up on a crisp morning before the omakase began.

The first dish was a tuna appetizer, and the sauce was incredibly delicious!

Next came salmon, flounder, and tuna sushi.
Both the rice and the sashimi were excellent!
I have a soft spot for red fish, so tuna and salmon
always hit the spot, no matter where I enjoy them!

Then came the sweet shrimp + ankimo (monkfish liver) sushi –
and oh my, this was truly phenomenal!

Following that, we had scallop and eel sushi.
I'm not usually a big fan of eel, but this one was quite enjoyable!

Then came a mackerel roll or sushi – it was warm and delicious!

And then, the magnificent futomaki!
They don't serve the whole roll, but rather a single piece,
and presented it beautifully for photos before serving.

We also had spear squid sushi in between courses,
but I got so caught up in enjoying it that I forgot to snap a picture!
The spear squid was delicious, but the ultimate highlight
was definitely the sweet shrimp and ankimo!

The meal concluded with soba noodles and a delicate egg castella for dessert,
finished with a refreshing plum wine.

While it wasn't an 'out-of-this-world' experience,
I was thoroughly satisfied overall. I wholeheartedly recommend this Suwon omakase sushi spot
to anyone looking to try omakase for the first time!
The dinner price is also a very reasonable ~$28,
and I noticed many regulars, even those taking advantage of the corkage-free policy,
visiting frequently for both lunch and dinner.
If you're ever wondering where to eat in Suwon's Shindong area,
definitely keep Sushi Ichi in mind!
Wishing you all a wonderful day! 🍀
