Suwon Station's Gwang-eum Cinema: A Perfect Indoor Date 2026

On a day when the rain was absolutely pouring down,

my husband and I really pondered what to do

near Suwon Station.

Originally, we had planned to explore outside,

but the downpour was no joke,

so we had to completely change our plans, unfortunately!

So, while looking for indoor activities near Suwon Station

where we wouldn't get rained on, the place we chose was

Lotte Cinema Suwon Station's Gwangum Cinema!

Although I usually go to the movies quite often,

this was my first time at Gwangum Cinema.

Coincidentally, the movie 'Odyssey' that my husband and I had planned to watch

had many reviews saying its sound was key,

so I decided to choose Gwangum Cinema instead of a regular theater.

it was an absolutely brilliant choice!

We drove because it was raining so heavily,

but the underground parking lot was so well-maintained and comfortable

that we could go straight up to the cinema

When I go to the cinema,

I'm quite particular about parking support times.

You know how it is, if you rush out after the movie

because you're short on time and worried about paying extra for parking,

Fortunately, 'Odyssey,' the movie we saw that day,

so even though we arrived a little earlier than the screening time,

there wasn't a dull moment.

2. Gwangum Cinema

Lotte Cinema boasts a diverse lineup of special theaters, such as Superplex and MX4D,

but the one my husband and I visited this time

was Gwangum Cinema.

As its name suggests, it's a specialized theater that puts perfect

emphasis on sound,

making it a perfect match for films where audio is crucial,

like 'Odyssey'.

The most satisfying thing right after entering the screening room was

that all seats were recliners!

When you recline the seat, you can stretch your legs all the way out,

making my body truly comfortable

throughout the long screening time of over 3 hours.

Most importantly, the legroom between the seats is incredibly spacious.

Even when I stretched my legs out completely and was practically lying down,

There was plenty of space for people to walk past in front of us.

Even though the theater was packed that day,

it didn't feel cramped or like I had to worry about bothering the person next to me at all.

Normally, when I watch a long movie in standard seats,

my back starts to ache and throb halfway through,

making me squirm.

But here, I could enjoy the movie comfortably

from start to finish without my posture ever getting out of whack.

It feels like the perfect unique indoor date activity

to enjoy comfortably, no matter the weather, haha!

As soon as the movie began,

I felt in my entire body why Gwangum Cinema

is called a sound-specialized theater.

Large speakers are densely arranged not only on both side walls

but also below the screen, so even though I was in a middle-back seat,

the deep, heavy bass enveloped my entire body.

What I liked most was that it wasn't just loud noise

that felt like it would tear my eardrums,

but rather something more nuanced.

Instead of fatiguing my ears with high frequencies,

the deep, heavy bass reverberated

throughout the entire theater,

sending pleasant vibrations right through

to the seat cushions.

For a moment, I actually mistook it for being in a 4D theater, haha!

In movies like Odyssey, where majestic background music

and intricate sound effects dominate the atmosphere,

this sound difference makes a world of difference to the immersion.

3. Odyssey

From the very beginning, the movie Odyssey's

vast worldview was absolutely captivating.

Thanks to a story that reinterprets mythology with a modern sensibility,

I was completely immersed, so much so that I didn't even realize

how quickly the 3-hour long runtime flew by, haha!

Usually, with epic blockbusters like this,

if the initial exposition is too long, it can get boring.

But Odyssey maintained a fast pace throughout,

keeping me on the edge of my seat every single moment.

The protagonist pushing forward toward their goal,

even through hardship!!

Even after the movie ended,

my husband and I kept talking about the lingering impression and message of the ending for quite a while :)

If you're completely unfamiliar with Greek and Roman mythology,

I highly recommend checking out some of the plot summaries available on YouTube before you go!

And while a regular theater might be sufficient for a calm, dialogue-heavy film,

if it's a big-budget movie where deep bass and powerful sound effects are crucial,
