Stepping into Our Dream Maldives Water Villa: The Ultimate Highlight
Our Maldives adventure began with two delightful days in a beach villa, directly connected to the emerald-hued sands. Then, the moment we’d been eagerly anticipating arrived: moving into our stunning water villa.
Walking along the wooden pier, lined with water villas stretching out over the ocean, we found our home for the next few days. As soon as we opened the door, a spacious and inviting interior greeted us.
Spacious Room for a Family of Four & All-Inclusive Perks
Perfect for a family of four like ours, the room featured a large queen bed and two single beds, providing ample space for everyone to relax comfortably.
As expected from an all-inclusive resort, the mini-bar was well-stocked with wines and other beverages. Thoughtful amenities like beach towels were also readily available.
The bathroom was incredibly spacious, making it easy and convenient for our family of four to move around and get ready.
It featured dual sinks, a separate shower stall, and a bathtub. Being right over the ocean, you can even open the bathroom doors for an incredibly unique showering experience with a view!
Your Private Terrace and the Ocean Await Beyond the Living Room Window
But truly, the ultimate highlight of this room lay beyond the living room window. Open it up, and you’re greeted by your dream private terrace with breathtaking ocean views.
The deck featured a table and chairs, perfect for lounging and soaking in the ocean scenery, along with life jackets for safety.
Snorkeling Directly from Your Water Villa
A ladder on one side of the terrace leads directly into the ocean, transforming the area right outside your door into a private snorkeling spot.
Equipped with flippers and goggles rented from the resort, our kids wasted no time diving into their ocean adventure.
As the kids happily swam and explored, I savored the peaceful view from the terrace, watching their joyful splashes.
Water Villa Stay Tips & Honest Recommendations for Families
The biggest advantages of a water villa are the direct ocean access and the fantastic opportunity for snorkeling right from your room. However, if your children are very young, safety concerns might prevent you from fully enjoying these perks. For families with pre-teens or teenagers, the water villa experience is absolutely magical. One thing to note: on windy days, the waves can be a bit strong, which might make swimming a little daunting for some.
Personally, for a family trip to Sun Siyam Olhuveli in the Maldives, I highly recommend experiencing both a beach villa and a water villa. If you have to choose just one, I'd suggest the beach villa for families seeking more stability and peace of mind, while the romantic ambiance of a water villa is perfect for honeymooners.
As night falls, the tranquil ocean combined with the charming nightscape makes for a truly satisfying evening stroll.

Yes, a ladder is connected to one side of the private terrace of the Water Villa room, allowing direct access to the sea. This is your private snorkeling point.
If children are too young, it might be difficult to fully enjoy the advantages of the Water Villa due to safety reasons. We recommend the Water Villa for families with children of middle school age or older, as they can fully appreciate its charm.
Personally, I recommend a combination of experiencing both the Beach Villa and the Water Villa. However, if you have to choose only one room type, I would recommend the Beach Villa for family travelers due to its sense of stability.
