there was one thing I spent even more time agonizing over than airfare:

choosing the perfect **Maldives resort**!

Initially, I thought, "It's the Maldives!"

"Anywhere I choose will be amazing."

But once I actually started looking,

I realized there are indeed a TON of **Maldives resorts** out there,

and what's more, every single **resort differs** in terms of its lagoon and underwater environment,

its rooms, dining options, transportation methods, meal plans, and activities.

It's truly a unique experience at each one.

Especially if you've picked the Maldives as your dream **honeymoon destination**,

you know it's not a trip that costs just a few pennies,

so you can't help but be extra careful with your choice.

Typically, when you're exploring **Maldives resorts**,

you'll want to check if the **lagoon is stunning**,

if the **underwater environment is perfect for snorkeling**,

if your **water villa comes with a private pool**,

and **how you'll get there from Malé Airport**.

You'll also consider **resort size, dining options, all-inclusive packages, and your total budget**.

These are often the key points on your checklist.

For my recent Maldives trip, the resort I chose was...

With its **crystal-clear lagoon, fantastic snorkeling**, and

**tranquil resort atmosphere**,

it was absolutely perfect for me, as these were my top priorities!

I highly recommend checking how you'll get from **Malé International Airport**

to your resort.

In the Maldives, it's often the case that

there's **just one resort on an entire island**,

so arriving at Malé Airport doesn't mean

your journey is over;

it's just the beginning of your next leg of travel!

From the airport, you'll need to

make another transfer to the **island where your chosen resort is located**.

Broadly, there are three main ways to get to your Maldives resort:

Each method comes with

quite a **difference in travel time and cost**,

so it's crucial to consider the **overall travel expenses**,

Since I made it all the way to the Maldives,

I definitely wanted to experience a **seaplane departing from the ocean** at least once.

Through the window, small and large islands,

along with emerald lagoons encircled by coral reefs

And as soon as you step off the plane,

your dreamlike time at the resort truly begins to unfold.

When I was choosing our Maldives resort,

the most important factors for me were

a vibrant soda-pop blue lagoon, an excellent snorkeling environment,

and, fitting for a honeymoon,

a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

These three things.

The very first thing that caught my eye

when we arrived at Fushifaru Resort

was, without a doubt, the incredible color of the sea.

It truly felt like a refreshing, vivid sky-blue lagoon,

as if a vibrant blue soda had been poured out, stretching as far as the eye could see!

I've traveled to Southeast Asia frequently and seen many beautiful oceans,

but the Maldives truly felt like a whole new dimension!

From the transparent, sparkling mint green in the shallows

to the rich, deep blue in the deeper parts,

the colors were layered so perfectly,

it was mesmerizing just to gaze upon them.

What's more, Fushifaru isn't overwhelmingly large,

so it's super convenient to explore on foot.

And no matter where we ventured,

it never felt too crowded,

making it absolutely perfect for serene relaxation and rejuvenation.

What's more, among the Maldives resorts

Fushifaru offers a relatively reasonable price point.

When considering our overall budget,

it felt like an incredibly attractive option!

What really stuck with me about Fushifaru, even more than I anticipated,

was how truly immersed the resort felt in

an authentic Maldivian atmosphere.

Rather than simply feeling like a holiday destination

with beautiful pools and rooms,

we genuinely experienced the local ambiance

through their dinner offerings and various programs.

In particular, they hosted a wonderful Maldivian Concept Dinner Buffet

every evening!

From the dishes showcasing authentic Maldivian flavors

to the overall ambiance,

it offered a completely different vibe

from any buffet I'd experienced before.

I used to think that Maldivian resorts

were just for relaxing, making me wonder 'What else is there to do?'

But with so many programs continuously running,

you can truly enjoy a more vibrant and diverse stay! 🩵

At Fushifaru,

you'll find various room types, from Beach Villas with direct beach access

to Water Villas built right over the ocean.

If you're planning a Maldives honeymoon,

I personally recommend the Water Villa

as my top choice.

It perfectly embodies that iconic Maldives vibe,

the overwater bungalow experience everyone dreams of.

You can truly indulge in it,

and with a private pool in your room,

my husband and I loved spending private time there together!

Plus, the ability to jump right into the ocean anytime is just fantastic.

If you're looking for an even more special stay,

they also have Premium Pool Water Villas

which come with an additional private hammock.

I also stayed in a Beach Villa,

and it has a definite charm: the sandy beach is right outside your room,

so you can wake up, step onto the sand,

and head straight for the ocean.

Plus, the sunrises are absolutely stunning!

If you want to experience both a Beach Villa and a Water Villa,

it's a great idea to split your stay, perhaps 2 nights in each, or 2 nights in one and 3 in the other.

There's another reason why you shouldn't just look at the room price when comparing Maldives resort prices.

Since you'll need to sort out most of your

meals, drinks, and activities within the island resort,

the amount you spend locally can vary quite a lot depending on which meal plan you book.

+Unlike other countries, there are no outside restaurants or convenience stores.

Everything must be handled within the resort!

For a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon,

if you want to enjoy your trip without constantly worrying about the price of food and drinks,

then all-inclusive is definitely the way to go for ultimate convenience.

However, if you book a meal plan other than all-inclusive, like

full board or half board,

the included benefits might differ :-)

Even at the same Fushifaru Resort,

the range of benefits can vary depending on your

chosen meal plan.

So, make sure to check the exact inclusions before booking!

Based on the all-inclusive plan,

you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at

Korakali Restaurant.

There's a fantastic

live cooking station available,

and for dinner, themed dinners are sometimes held

depending on the date.

What truly stood out for me was the

Maldivian concept dinner I mentioned earlier.

For lunch,

you can enjoy a set menu at either

Raakani or Fanihandhi.

Other dinner options are available at

Raakani or Teppanyaki.

Raakani and Teppanyaki are restaurants that require advance reservations (and come with an additional charge).

So, if there's a particular date you'd like to dine there,

I highly recommend booking in advance.

One of the biggest reasons I chose Fushifaru Resort

was its incredible underwater environment.

It's not just about the

beautiful lagoons;

you can jump right into the water in front of the resort

and enjoy snorkeling amidst the stunning underwater world of the Maldives.

Being able to

snorkel directly from the resort

rather than having to take a boat far out to see fish

was surprisingly convenient.

And especially at the beach snorkeling spots,

you'll find Fushifaru's signature underwater swing and bicycle,

as well as various artificial structures. Having these points underwater

made snorkeling even more fun!

The water is incredibly clear too,

meaning you might even spot manta rays, turtles, and baby sharks!

Snorkeling gear, fins, and life jackets are all available for rent!

As an extra activity,

I also went shark and manta ray snorkeling

(separate additional cost)

and it was truly amazing to see nurse sharks and mantas up close.. 💚

Before coming to the Maldives,

I wondered if staying for 4 nights at the same resort

might get a little boring.

But time truly flew by!

That's because Fushifaru offers a really diverse range of activities

included in its all-inclusive package.

Unlike trips where you constantly move between tourist spots,

a Maldives vacation means spending most of your time within the resort.

Is there enough to do for 4 or 5 nights?

The main pool is also incredibly well-designed,

and with the ocean right in front, there's never a dull moment!

At Fushifaru,

beyond snorkeling and marine activities,

you can also access the fitness center and multi-sport court.

Various sports facilities are also available,

including beach volleyball, tennis, billiards, beach football, and badminton.

In the Maldives,

where you spend a lot of time at the resort,

these thoughtful services

turn out to be more convenient than you might expect.

Cooking classes and cocktail classes (additional costs apply)

There wasn't a single moment to get bored!

The Maldives isn't just for honeymoons;

it's also a popular destination for family trips!

If you're planning a family trip with kids,

the Koko Kids Club, available for ages 4 to 11,

is also available for free!

The sunsets are beautiful every day,

so when sunset time rolled around,

simply gazing at the sea made time fly by.

A place where doing absolutely nothing felt like pure happiness.

Maldives resorts aren't places where you stay for a day or two and then go sightseeing.

In that sense, Fushifaru, our Maldives resort choice,

stood out for its tranquility, thanks to its compact island size, yet

having a crystal-clear lagoon right at its doorstep.

The fact that you could enjoy everything from

snorkeling directly in front of the resort

to a variety of other activities

was its biggest draw for me. 🩵

From the room conditions to the friendliness of the staff,

every moment from start to finish was truly memorable.
