Craving Sapporo's famous soup curry? Discover Suage+, a must-try spot in Susukino. Learn about our delicious experience, waiting tips, and why it's worth the queue for this unforgettable dish.
If you're traveling to Sapporo, soup curry is an absolute must-try!
Among the countless soup curry restaurants,
I visited Suage+ on Susukino Street.
Originally, I had planned to go to Soup Curry Garaku,
but they have a break time from 3 PM and are incredibly popular,
so I heard they often close by 2 PM even on weekdays.
Suage+ is just as famous as Garaku,
and since they didn't have a break time, I decided to visit.
And wow, it was absolutely delicious...
Seriously, it was the best soup curry I've ever had!!

Waiting & Reservations
As with most soup curry restaurants in Sapporo,
reservations aren't possible; it's always a walk-in, on-site waiting system.
Especially for soup curry spots in Sapporo,
it's tough to find a place without a wait.
I visited around 3 PM on a weekday,
and even though it was an odd time,
there were so many people!
Suage+ is on the second floor, but the line filled up all the way to the bottom of the stairs on the first floor...
When I came out around 4 PM, there was no line at all!
A sign said not to line up here but to get a numbered ticket,
but no matter where I looked, on both the first and second floors,
I couldn't find where to get a ticket, so I was confused for a while.
However, it seems they might not be using the ticket system anymore,
or perhaps it was temporary, because just lining up
and waiting was indeed the correct approach.
While waiting, a staff member will come out and ask how many are in your party.
The line was quite long, extending to the end of the stairs on the first floor,
but surprisingly, it only took about 20-30 minutes to get in!
Heads up: card payments are not accepted; only cash payment is possible,
so make sure to bring cash with you!
Menu
While you're waiting, you can scan a QR code to view the menu.
There's no Korean menu, but there is an English one,
so you'll have no trouble choosing your dish.
The most famous dish is the chicken leg curry,
and you can even adjust the spice level.
(But seriously, *please* try the pork curry...)
The average price is around 1,500 JPY.
Restaurant Atmosphere
The interior of the restaurant is surprisingly spacious.
The short waiting time was probably because there are plenty of seats,
allowing for good customer turnover.
While it's a famous spot in Korea,
there were also a lot of Japanese customers.
I'd say more than half were local Japanese,
and the rest were mostly Koreans.
Looks like celebrity autographs,
but it's a bit of a shame I don't recognize any of them...
How to Order
You can order by scanning the QR code on your table.
Simply browse the menu, add your desired dishes to your cart,
choose your spice level (from 1 to 7),
select your rice portion, and hit the order button – and you're all set!
Payment is made at the counter when you leave.
When you think of Japan, you can't forget Melon Soda!
It tastes like melon candy mixed with sparkling water, and it's surprisingly addictive.
Soup Curry
I found myself wondering, 'When will the curry finally arrive...?'
and that's exactly when it appeared!
It seems to take a little longer because there are so many people.
We ordered the highly popular Chicken Curry,
Pork Curry with Cheese Rice,
and added a broccoli topping.
We ordered level 4 spiciness, but it really wasn't spicy at all.
I even forgot I'd ordered something spicy, haha!
If you like a bit of a kick,
definitely order level 5 or higher.
I think more than half of Soup Curry's incredible flavor comes from this broth.
The broth is truly rich, hearty, and incredibly delicious.
One bite, and you'll immediately understand why it's so famous!
And seriously, you absolutely *must* add cheese rice.
Its savory goodness pairs perfectly with the soup curry.
For those thinking, 'Is Suage really worth the wait?'
please, I beg you, go back and try the Pork Curry just once...
Who said Suage's Chicken Curry was the famous one?
The pork is the real deal!!!
My husband took one bite and immediately said,
'I should've ordered the pork instead of the chicken!'
He regretted it, haha!
Honestly, it was a flavor that made every minute of waiting absolutely worth it.
The meat was incredibly tender and succulent,
and thoroughly soaked in the broth, giving it a profound depth of flavor.
Soup Curry has strong smoky, peppery, and spicy notes from the blend of spices,
so it might be a love-it-or-hate-it dish. But if you're like me,
and you love pepper, you'll definitely be obsessed!
It's exactly the kind of flavor Koreans adore.
Of course, I'm not saying the Chicken Curry isn't delicious.
Depending on your preference, some might find the Chicken Curry even better,
and that's perfectly fine, haha!
The chicken drumstick was also incredibly large and substantial.
Seriously, the depth of flavor in this broth is on another level!
It's the kind of taste that makes you understand why Koreans go absolutely crazy for it.
Someone told me that even people who dislike broccoli should still
definitely add the fried broccoli here, so I ordered it.
However, it wasn't a hit for me personally.
Both my husband and I absolutely despise broccoli, so...
My husband said he could *actually* eat broccoli like this,
but I couldn't even manage a single bite ㅠㅠ
If you're not a fan of broccoli, you really don't need to...
I wouldn't recommend it.
But all the other toppings, like potatoes and carrots, were absolutely delicious!
The total price came out to 4,400 yen.
Considering the cost of eating out in Japan,
I think it's a pretty affordable price!
Suage+ is the main branch, and its location is also fantastic!
It's just a 2-minute walk from Susukino Station, making the travel route incredibly convenient.
And considering its popularity, the waiting time is relatively short,
so I highly recommend it as a must-try Sapporo Soup Curry spot!
