Hey there, fellow travelers! Today, I'm excited to share my review of the Somerset Grand Hanoi, where my family and I enjoyed a wonderful 3-night, 4-day stay in Hanoi, Vietnam, back in 2025.
This 5-star hotel boasts a fantastic location near major attractions and features a refreshing swimming pool, making it an absolute gem for families traveling together.

Location
📍 Somerset Grand Hanoi
49 P. Hai Bà Trưng, Trần Hưng Đạo, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam

You'll be delighted to know that St. Joseph's Cathedral is just an 8-minute walk away, and the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake is a leisurely 10 to 15-minute stroll. Plus, with supermarkets and charming cafes right around the corner, its location is truly unbeatable for tourists.
Booking

When I visited in 2025, I booked the most expensive 3-Bedroom Executive suite without any discounts, paying around ~$182. However, as of 2026, MyRealTrip is running a "Zero-Margin" promotion with 0% commission, meaning you can snag the exact same room for approximately ~$124! (And yes, I double-checked – these prices are for the same month, just different years!)

Even the cheapest room is going for around ~$80 now – oh, how I wish I had these deals when I booked! Seriously, make sure you take advantage of any promotions when you plan your trip!

3 Bedroom Executive Suite

Step into the spacious living room, complete with a large sofa, a small round table with two chairs, and a dining table perfect for family meals. We appreciated having two air conditioning units in this area alone!
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the TV even offered international news channels, which was a nice touch.

There's also a convenient desk and chair, perfect for catching up on a bit of work or planning your next Hanoi adventure.

Our group consisted of five adults and two children, and this apartment-style suite was absolutely perfect. With three separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a comfortable mix of beds – two twin beds, one king-sized bed, and one queen-sized bed – we had ample space and never felt cramped.

This is the largest room, featuring a plush king-sized bed, a private ensuite bathroom, and a spacious closet. Each bedroom also comes equipped with its own air conditioning unit, ensuring personalized comfort for everyone.

The second bedroom, though slightly smaller, offers a cozy queen-sized bed, a closet, and its own bathroom. While the master bathroom features a bathtub, this one is equipped with a convenient walk-in shower.

Finally, the third room features two comfortable twin beds and a closet, perfect for the kids or additional guests. This room does not have an attached bathroom, but there are other facilities available in the apartment.
All the rooms were impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean. A major plus was the blackout curtains in every room, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep without any unwelcome morning glare – perfect for catching up on rest!

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay, including a microwave, coffee maker, washing machine, refrigerator, and oven.

When traveling with extended family, especially parents, having a fully equipped suite like this makes all the difference – it truly offers peace of mind. Considering Vietnam's affordable cost of living, this 5-star hotel also presents excellent value for money.
Pool

Head down to the first floor and you'll discover a surprisingly large outdoor swimming pool. I highly recommend taking a dip in the evening; fewer people are around, and the special night lighting creates a truly magical ambiance, far more enchanting than a daytime swim.

Plenty of comfortable sunbeds are available, perfect for relaxing between laps or just soaking up the sun.

Adjacent to the main pool, you'll find two smaller, circular pools – great for younger children or a more private soak.

If you're an early riser like us, you might even have the entire pool to yourselves during the day, which meant our kids had a blast splashing around as if it were their private oasis!

Right next to the pool area, there's a ping-pong table and a billiards table. This is fantastic, especially for family members who might not be keen on swimming – there's still plenty to keep everyone entertained!

The hotel also features a well-equipped gym, a tennis court, and a dedicated kids' playground. It's clear that Somerset Grand Hanoi has thought of everything to cater to the diverse needs of family travelers.
Breakfast

Breakfast Hours: 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Our room rate included breakfast, but I confess, I was enjoying my sleep too much to make it down most mornings! (Don't judge, that king bed was just too comfy!)
However, my family raved about the breakfast spread! They reported a huge variety of options, from Western favorites like omelets, bacon, and sausages, to Asian delights such as fried rice, dim sum, congee, and of course, delicious Vietnamese pho. Plus, there was an abundance of fresh bread and fruits. They confirmed the taste was excellent!
From the immaculate room conditions to the impeccable service, everything at Somerset Grand Hanoi truly lived up to its 5-star reputation!
If you're searching for the perfect family-friendly accommodation in Hanoi, Vietnam, I wholeheartedly recommend the Somerset Grand Hanoi. And seriously, don't forget to grab those discounts when you book!
