👨👩👧 Recommended Points for Families with Children
✔️ High Chairs + Kids' Cutlery - The self-service bar even has spoons, forks, and scissors specifically for children.
✔️ Dedicated Microwave for Baby Food
✔️ Special Kids' Set Meal (Jjajangbap - Black Bean Sauce Rice) - Served with a perfectly cooked fried egg.
✔️ Spacious Table Spacing + Disposable Tablecloths - Convenient for hygiene and movement.
👀 Details I Noticed

Passing the waiting area at the entrance, we found seats further inside.
The tables were spaced appropriately, and each had a disposable tablecloth, giving a sense of cleanliness.

There's a self-service bar on one side where you can refill your side dishes as much as you like.
Not only are there extra plates, but also kids' spoons, forks, and even scissors, making it a great restaurant for families with children.
They even have a dedicated microwave for baby food!

The young radish kimchi (yeolmu kimchi) was so delicious that we refilled it multiple times.
They also said there was 'yagwanmun-cha' (bushclover tea) in the hot water dispenser, so I got a cup to try.

Bottled water is provided initially, and then you can use the water dispenser for refills.
It was also unique for a Makguksu restaurant to offer corkage-free service. I occasionally saw customers enjoying a drink with their Suyuk (boiled pork slices) or Memil Jeonbyeong (buckwheat crepes).

You can order and pre-pay using a tablet, and after payment, you can immediately participate in a review event with your receipt.
Thanks to that, I received 2 large buckwheat dumplings (Memil Wang Mandu) as a complimentary service! 😉

The menu at Sokcho Tapgol Makguksu
offers more than just Makguksu; there's also Perilla Seed Kalguksu, Buckwheat King Manduguk, and more.
It was great that you could order even smaller portions of Suyuk (boiled pork slices).
They also have a Kids' Set Menu, featuring Jjajangbap.
🍽️What We Ordered: Deulmemak, Kids' Set Menu, Individual Suyuk

The banchan (side dishes) came out first.
Young Radish Kimchi and Spicy Radish Salad.
Also, saeujeot (salted shrimp sauce) and ssamjang (spicy dipping sauce) to enjoy with the suyuk.

Dishes arrived one by one, and in no time, our table was completely full.

We ordered two Deulmemak, but
I kinda wished we'd ordered one of something else, haha.

The first dish to arrive was the Kids' Set Menu.
It comes with Jjajangbap topped with a perfectly cooked fried egg.
The sweet jjajang sauce is a hit with kids,
so it was well-received.

Effectively the main event of the day: Deulmemak (Perilla Seed Buckwheat Makguksu).
Fragrant perilla seed powder and a special perilla oil seasoning
are generously layered at the bottom,

When you mix it all up, you get a subtle nuttiness, a sweet and savory flavor,
and even the aromatic freshness of perilla leaves.

It paired wonderfully with the tangy Young Radish Kimchi,

The dongchimi (radish kimchi) broth that came with it –
after you've thoroughly enjoyed the mixed flavors of the Deulmemak,
pour it in when you have two or three spoonfuls left,
and you'll get to experience a completely new finishing flavor.

An essential at any makguksu restaurant: suyuk, the Individual Suyuk (boiled pork slices).
It was the perfect amount to enjoy as a side dish.
Even suitable for two people to share.

We also added Myeongtae Hoemuchim (spicy pollack salad) to our order,

The seasoning is quite strong, so rather than eating it with Deulmemak right from the start,
I recommend enjoying your Deulmemak fully first,
and then adding the myeongtaehoe later.
Of course, it's a perfect match for suyuk!

2 Buckwheat King Dumplings received from a review event
These buckwheat king dumplings, I'd been so curious about them!
I thought ordering 5 would be too much,
so getting just 2 was absolutely perfect! 😄

After our meal, we completed our parking registration at the counter,
and even got to snap a fun picture at the receipt sticker machine located in the waiting area.

Overall Review
While the Makguksu itself was absolutely delicious, what truly impressed me was how thoughtfully designed everything was for families (think kids' menus, spacious seating, and a convenient self-service bar!).
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for anyone traveling to Sokcho with children – it’s a fantastic spot!
