The Ultimate 2-Day Sokcho Family Itinerary
Every summer, when vacation season rolls around, I find myself escaping to Gangwon-do. With its perfect blend of majestic mountains and the refreshing ocean, it's the ultimate retreat from the sweltering city heat.
Gangwon-do is noticeably cooler than the concrete jungle, packed with traditional markets full of local delicacies, and boasts some incredible resorts near Mt. Seorak. It's truly the perfect place to unwind and disconnect.
If you want to plan a trip that will earn you major brownie points with your parents or kids, check out my highly efficient, time-saving 2-day Sokcho family itinerary!
An All-In-One Resort Staycation
Sono Felice Delpino - Silver Room
📍 Sono Felice Delpino
1153 Misiryeongyet-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do

When traveling with kids or older parents, convenience is key. You want spacious rooms, multiple bathrooms, a comfortable living area, and all your amenities in one accessible place.
That's exactly why I booked the Sono Felice Delpino. With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and access to Ocean World, an infinity pool, saunas, and a premium buffet, it had absolutely everything. My parents were thrilled!
Our room offered a breathtaking view of the iconic Ulsanbawi Rock. There's even a mini-golf course right inside the resort, making it an incredible spot to relax and recharge.
The location is unbeatable—it's super close to the Seoraksan Cable Car. Plus, the resort houses 'The Ambrosia,' a cafe famous for its floor-to-ceiling views of Ulsanbawi. You can knock out your accommodation and sightseeing in one go!
The Pinnacle of Natural Beauty
Seoraksan Cable Car
📍 Seorak Cable Car
1085 Seoraksan-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do

After enjoying a hearty resort breakfast, our first stop was the Seoraksan Cable Car.
If you're traveling with young children, elderly parents, or simply aren't up for a strenuous hike, this is an absolute lifesaver.
Without breaking a sweat, a quick 10-minute ride takes you straight to the Gwongeumseong Fortress, offering sweeping panoramic views of the lush mountains and the dramatic Ulsanbawi Rock.

My mom has a bad ankle, so a full hike was out of the question. Thanks to the cable car, we reached the peak comfortably and quickly, took in the stunning alpine scenery, and snapped some beautiful family photos!
A quick pro-tip: Because this is such a popular attraction, visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon helps you avoid the massive crowds and the peak midday heat.
Also, when boarding the cable car, stand on the left side going up and the right side going down. This gives you the absolute best, unobstructed views of Mt. Seorak's dramatic cliffs!
Crystal Clear Waters
Ayajin Beach
📍 Ayajin Beach
Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do

Next on our list was Ayajin Beach.
I've visited quite a few beaches along the East Coast, but in my opinion, Ayajin has the most breathtaking, vibrant water color of them all.
The pristine white sand is impeccably clean. The beach is officially open for the summer season, making it incredibly tempting to jump right in for a swim. (Since we were only on a quick 2-day trip, we opted to just enjoy the view this time!)

An Oceanfront Coffee Break
Ayatt Coffee
📍 Ayatt Coffee
2F, 137 Ayajinhaebyeon-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do

After soaking in the beauty of Ayajin Beach, we strolled over to Ayatt Coffee, a stunning ocean-view cafe situated right at the edge of the shoreline.
With our stomachs full from lunch, we ordered their famous butter-rich salt bread (an absolute must-try!), along with some warm tea and coffee, and just enjoyed the serene atmosphere.
Stepping away from the hustle of daily life to simply sit and stare at the mesmerizing ocean waves really cleared my mind. It made me think, 'Now this is what a real vacation feels like.'
Indoor Action & Entertainment
Alive Heart & Dynamic Maze
📍 Alive Heart & Dynamic Maze Sokcho
88 Wonamhakpyeong-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do

Once the clock strikes noon and the temperature spikes, outdoor activities can become pretty exhausting unless you're physically swimming in the ocean.
To beat the heat, we discovered an indoor theme park called Alive Heart & Dynamic Maze, and it ended up being a highlight of our family trip!
This place is packed with mind-bending optical illusion photo zones and escape-room-style physical challenges.
It has programs that require you to crawl, climb, and solve puzzles, making it incredibly fun for both kids and adults.
I honestly didn't expect much going in, but it was so engaging that I found myself participating more enthusiastically than anyone else!
It was the perfect way to escape the intense afternoon sun, stay cool, have a blast, and take some hilarious photos with my parents.

A Healthy & Hearty Local Feast
88 Grilled Fish (88 Saengseon Gui)
📍 88 Grilled Fish
71 Jungangbudu-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do

After such an action-packed day, we headed to dinner at 88 Grilled Fish, a legendary local dining spot famous for its charcoal-grilled seafood.
They serve a platter featuring 8 different types of fish and squid. The best part? The staff expertly grills everything right at your table over hot coals, so you can just sit back, relax, and taste a huge variety of perfectly cooked seafood.
It's an incredibly healthy, protein-packed meal that isn't greasy at all. Since it's a traditional Korean-style meal, my parents absolutely loved it and polished off their bowls of rice in record time!
By perfectly balancing indoor entertainment and outdoor sightseeing, we pulled off a truly unforgettable trip to Sokcho.
