Traveling with Our Dog, We Needed a Relaxing Cafe Stop
Our recent Sokcho trip was a full family affair, including our beloved furry companion. When you travel with a dog, finding a suitable cafe can often be a bit of a challenge.
You wonder if they're allowed inside, if you'll feel unwelcome, or if there's enough space for your dog to be comfortable. That's when we stumbled upon Hanok Cafe Tteuran, and to put it simply, it was an absolutely wonderful discovery for our family.
Atmosphere — A Traditional Hanok with a Beautiful Lawn Yard
Upon arrival, the traditional Hanok building immediately caught our eye. It exuded a distinctly Korean charm, but rather than feeling old, it was a beautifully maintained Hanok, making us feel at ease the moment we stepped in. The interior was also spacious, offering plenty of room for families to relax.

But the true charm of this cafe is its spacious lawn yard. With outdoor tables set up, it was even more delightful to sit outside on a beautiful day, soaking in the ambiance.

Pet Policy — Pets Welcome in the Outdoor Yard
For those traveling with pets, this is probably the most crucial piece of information.
Pets are allowed in the outdoor lawn yard. Please note that this applies to outdoor seating only, not the indoor area!
Our dog absolutely loved sniffing around and exploring the grassy area. Being able to relax as a family, without having to worry about our dog, was a truly significant joy.

Sikhye — Refreshing and Sweet
The menu offered more than just coffee; they also had a selection of traditional Korean teas. With hand-drip coffee, homemade fruit syrup drinks, and even traditional snacks like dried persimmon rolls with walnuts (gotgam-hodumali) and grilled rice cakes (garaetteok), there was plenty to choose from.
I ordered Sikhye, a sweet rice punch. The moment I took a sip, a refreshing and sweet flavor washed over me, and enjoying it in the traditional Hanok yard made the taste twice as good. It was absolutely delicious.

They say their Ssanghwa-cha (herbal tea) and Daechu-cha (jujube tea) are made with generous ingredients, so I'll definitely have to try those next time.
Keychains — Too Cute to Pass Up
The cafe also had keychains for sale. Each one was incredibly adorable, and I spent quite a while browsing them. In the end, I bought an avocado keychain for my girlfriend. They make perfect souvenirs to remember your Sokcho trip!
