Cheongchoho Lake Park: Sokcho's Late Spring King Cherry Blossom Trail
Don't miss Sokcho's spectacular King Cherry Blossoms! Head to Cheongchoho Lake Park for a vibrant late spring stroll, stunning night views, and delicious local eats.

The official Sokcho Cherry Blossom Festival typically wraps up around mid-April, leaving many feeling like the season's beauty has faded for another year.
But here's a little secret: the magnificent King Cherry Blossoms are just getting started!
While the main festival takes place at Yeongnangho Lake, for the absolute peak of King Cherry Blossoms through late April 2026, we highly recommend Cheongchoho Lake Park.

1. Yeongnangho vs. Cheongchoho: Your Cherry Blossom Walk Choice

Unlike Yeongnangho Lake, which hosts the Sokcho Cherry Blossom Festival, Cheongchoho Lake is conveniently located right in Sokcho's city center.
This means it's incredibly efficient for travelers, with Sokcho Central Market, delicious restaurants, charming cafes, and many other attractions nearby. It truly makes for a more practical and enjoyable Sokcho itinerary!

Cheongchoho Lake Park offers a refreshing dose of nature right in the heart of the city. Its walking paths, lined with majestic King Cherry trees and vibrant azaleas, provide a perfect springtime escape.

As you follow the scenic walking trail, you'll eventually reach the Sokcho Expo Tower – a renowned spot for incredible night views! While beautiful during the day, a romantic evening stroll from Cheongchoho Lake Park to the Expo Tower is truly magical. 🥹

Nearby, you'll find the famous Chilseong Shipyard Cafe, known for its unique vintage atmosphere, transformed from an old shipyard. It's a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy a coffee!

2. Chestertons Sokcho: Expo Tower Views & Family Fun

When I stayed at Chestertons Sokcho earlier this spring, it was just a quick 1-minute drive from Cheongchoho Lake Park. The weather was still a bit chilly then, so I didn't get to see Cheongchoho Lake Park in its full spring glory, but the Expo Tower view from my window was absolutely stunning! 😍
While the daytime view was a bit hazy, the Expo Tower night view was truly spectacular! On my next visit, I'll definitely be aiming for a Cheongchoho Lake view room.

Chestertons Sokcho is incredibly popular, especially because it maintains affordable prices even during peak season. I visited with a group of 8 and we utilized a three-room unit.
Our three-room unit included two bedrooms with beds, one traditional Korean ondol (heated floor) room, and two bathrooms (one with a bathtub).

With fantastic kid zones featuring everything from play equipment to Nintendo, it's particularly recommended for family trips with children!

I opted for the sauna package and enjoyed a truly private experience as it's exclusively for guests.
After a long day exploring Cheongchoho Lake Park and grabbing delicious treats from Sokcho Central Market, you're bound to have walked a lot. The sauna was the perfect way to melt away all that fatigue! 🤤
✔️ 7-minute drive to Sokcho Central Market
✔️ 10-minute taxi ride from Sokcho Express Bus Terminal
→ Highly recommended for those traveling without a car!

3. Best Local Eats Near Chestertons: Sokcho Central Market Food Guide

(1) Sadonjip Restaurant: A 10-Minute Drive Away
This restaurant has been featured on many TV shows, and it truly lived up to the hype! They serve breakfast, but be aware that they close early, so plan your visit accordingly.
Even the seemingly spicy Fish Roe Stew (mulgomtang) and Braised Flatfish (gajami jorim) were surprisingly mild, offering a deep, refreshing flavor. Overall, it was a fantastic spot for delicious, non-overpowering dishes.

(2) Sokcho Central Market Delights
At Sokcho Central Market, I sampled a variety of treats including Abai Sundae, Squid Sundae, Dakgangjeong (sweet and sour crispy chicken), and flatfish sashimi. The plump Shrimp Dakgangjeong was a particular favorite, and next time, I'm definitely trying the Scorched Rice Squid Sundae! 🤤
Also, make sure to find a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) stall nearby and pair it with some fried snacks! After all the fried and battered goodies you'll find at the market, a bit of spicy tteokbokki cuts through the richness perfectly. Haha!

Just as spring quickly gives way to summer, don't miss your last chance to enjoy the season's blossoms. Head to Sokcho's Cheongchoho Lake Park to witness the full bloom of the spectacular King Cherry Blossoms before they're gone!
