From Delicious Eats to Night Views: A Complete Guide
If you're wondering where to start your 1-night, 2-day Sokcho trip?
How about enjoying some *mulhoe*, grabbing some trending glutinous rice cake,
indulging in a food tour at Jungang Market, and catching the night view from Sokcho Eye?
This itinerary is perfect!
Instead of just stuffing a lot of famous tourist spots,
we spent our first day with Bongpo Meogurijip → Yukgu Bangatgan → Accommodation
→ Jungang Market → Sokcho Eye (Night View),
and on the way home the next day, we stopped by Macao Bak.
With a good mix of food and sights,
it turned out to be an incredibly fulfilling 1-night, 2-day trip!!
Actual 1-Night, 2-Day Sokcho Itinerary
DAY 1
Bongpo Meogurijip Main Branch → Yukgu Bangatgan
→ UH Flat The Sokcho → Sokcho Jungang Market → Sokcho Eye
DAY 2

1. First Meal in Sokcho: Bongpo Meogurijip Main Branch
📍 Bongpo Meogurijip

The first place we went after arriving in Sokcho was
Bongpo Meogurijip Main Branch!
If you've come to Sokcho, you've got to try *mulhoe* (cold raw fish soup) at least once, right? Lol.
We had *mulhoe*, *hoe-deopbap* (sliced raw fish over rice), and *ojingeo sundae* (stuffed squid sausage).
With plenty of seafood, including abalone,
*mulhoe* is truly the best first meal for a summer trip to Sokcho!
What's more, it's quite spacious,
and it's an ocean-view restaurant, so you can enjoy your meal while gazing at the sea!
Your parents would absolutely love it if you brought them here!

2. A Must-Wait Spot! Yukgu Bangatgan

Next up, for this Sokcho trip,
was Yukgu Bangatgan, which I was secretly looking forward to!
In photos, it just looks like plain white glutinous rice cake,
but it's so popular in Sokcho these days
that if you think you can just walk in and buy it, you'd be wrong!!
According to the latest store announcement,
starting August 14th, the on-site waiting method will change!!
They will operate by distributing numbered tickets 10 minutes before sales begin.

You need a numbered ticket to purchase,
with a maximum of 2 packs per ticket,
and everyone who received a ticket must be present.
📌 Sales end when ingredients run out, so
if you really want to try Yukgu Bangatgan,
I recommend lining up 20 minutes before ticket distribution!!
3. Superb Location! UH Flat The Sokcho
📍 UH Flat The Sokcho

After buying the *tteok* (rice cakes),
we checked into UH Flat The Sokcho!
The best thing about this accommodation was definitely its location.
Just a 7-minute walk to Jungang Market!!
No need to drive the car out again after checking in, right??
Especially during peak season, trying to find a parking spot
around Jungang Market can be a hassle, so
the biggest advantage of this accommodation is that you can leave your car at the hotel and walk!
And even if it's not an ocean view,
the city view is fantastic, isn't it?
It was an accommodation that ticked both value for money and emotional satisfaction. Good, good!
4. Dinner: Sokcho Jungang Market Food Tour
📍 Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market

After a little rest at our accommodation,
we headed to Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market on foot for dinner!!
When you go to a market, isn't it more fun to try a little bit of many different things
rather than filling up on just one?
We also explored and enjoyed various treats, from the Tigak-Tigak (crispy seaweed snacks) in the picture
to Dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken) and fried shrimp.
Coming back to the hotel and pairing it with a beer... pure bliss!!
The Squid Sundae was so delicious,
we had to get it again! LOL
Tigak-Tigak also makes for a great gift for parents.

5. The Sokcho Eye Night View: Even More Memorable Than During the Day

After exploring Jungang Market,
our final stop for the first day was the Sokcho Eye!
While the Sokcho Eye is certainly noticeable during the day,
seeing it at night is far more beautiful and truly gives you that 'on vacation' feeling!
Actually, UH Flat The Sokcho is a bit of a distance away,
so when we visited the Sokcho Eye, we stayed at the accommodation below!!

With the Ferris wheel illuminated against the dark night sky,
the photos looked much more atmospheric,
and a stroll along the beach felt absolutely perfect.
6. Ending Our Trip with Macao Park Egg Tarts
📍 Macao Park

The next day, our final stop was
Sokcho Macao Park Egg Tarts!!!
When you step into the shop, you'll see freshly baked egg tarts lined up,
and honestly, with a sight like that, you can't just have one!!
The crust is flaky and crisp,
while the inside is wonderfully moist – pure heaven with a cup of coffee!!
We ate one right away,
and sometimes the owner even gives out samples of other items, which is another huge bonus!!
Just a heads-up, Macao Park isn't a walk-in spot;
you need to make a reservation in advance!!

They are only open three days a week: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday...
So, if Macao Park is a must-visit for you,
it's crucial to align your travel dates with their operating days!!!
Our 1-night, 2-day trip to Sokcho, planned this way, was absolutely perfect!
This Sokcho trip wasn't about how many tourist spots I could tick off,
it was all about leisurely indulging in whatever delicious food caught my eye,
exploring the markets, and soaking in the dazzling nightscapes.
It all kicked off with a refreshing bowl of Mulhoe (spicy cold raw fish soup) at Bongpo Mugurijip,
then grabbing some chewy glutinous rice cakes from Yukgu Bangatgan.
After checking into our accommodation, we embarked on a true food adventure (mukbang!) at Jungang Market,
and witnessed the stunning night view from Sokcho Eye.
And the grand finale the next day? The absolutely divine egg tarts from Macau Park!!
Especially in the scorching summer heat,
instead of endlessly hopping between outdoor attractions during the hottest part of the day,
we cleverly mixed in visits to amazing restaurants, our comfy accommodation, and the vibrant market,
and shifted our outdoor plans to the evening. Trust me, it made a world of difference in avoiding exhaustion!

Yukgubanggatgan will operate by distributing numbered tickets 10 minutes before sales start, effective August 14th. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, you can receive a numbered ticket at 09:20 or 14:50. On Sundays, numbered tickets are distributed at 07:50.
The biggest advantage of UH Flat The Sokcho is its location. It's about a 7-minute walk to Jungang Market, so you can leave your car at the accommodation and walk to the market.
Yes, you can use the large parking lot of the Tourist & Fishery Market, and you'll receive a 30-minute parking voucher when you spend ~$7 or more. A maximum of 2 vouchers can be used per vehicle, for a total of up to 1 hour.
Macao Park Egg Tarts can only be purchased by making a reservation in advance; walk-in purchases are not available. The operating days are only three days: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
