Hello, I'm Lisa, your travel blogger!
Are you planning a trip to LA, USA?
If so, you might be wrestling with accommodation choices.
👉 Koreatown or Santa Monica? That is the question!

For this trip, I opted for a combination of:
✔️ A practical 3-night stay at a Korean guesthouse
✔️ A perfectly atmospheric 1-night stay at the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica
This combination worked out wonderfully.

The Shore Hotel, in particular, is the perfect place to bring your LA adventure to a romantic close.
It's an ideal recommendation for honeymoons, couples, or a special trip with friends.
In today's post, I'll share:
✔️ Recommendations for the best accommodation locations to plan your LA itinerary around
(Koreatown vs. Santa Monica)
✔️ My review of the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica
✔️ A summary of the pros and cons of the Shore Hotel in LA
✔️ My top tips for booking at the lowest price
and more!
“Where should I stay in LA?”
By the time you finish reading this post,
you'll have your answer!
1. LA Trip Accommodation Location: Where's the Best Spot?
LA is such a sprawling city, so
how you choose your accommodation location will greatly influence
your travel routes and itinerary.

📍Koreatown
Convenient for Korean tourists with many Korean restaurants and supermarkets.
Generally more affordable than other accommodations
and many places offer free parking.
However, it's primarily a residential area, so it feels less like a tourist destination.

📍Santa Monica
Right on the beach and pier, it's the heart of atmosphere and tourism.
A safe and walkable neighborhood,
perfect even for travelers on foot!
While prices are higher, it's a highly recommended LA hotel area for setting the perfect mood.
That's why I chose to combine:
a 3-night stay at a Korean guesthouse + 1 night in Santa Monica accommodation.
It was the optimal choice for balancing practicality and atmosphere.
2. LA Itinerary: Recommended Routes Based on Accommodation Location
Since hotels in Santa Monica aren't exactly cheap,
to save on costs, I booked 3 nights at a Korean guesthouse
and 1 night at a hotel in Santa Monica.
This allowed me to plan my LA itinerary and routes
based on each accommodation's location.

✅ 3 Days at a Korean Guesthouse: Rent a car for transportation + LA city tour
✔️ The Original Farmers Market, Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory
✔️ Dodger Stadium, Outlet Shopping
✔️ Disneyland
✅ 1 Day at The Shore Hotel: Visit Beverly Hills then check in
✔️ Stroll along Santa Monica Beach
✔️ Delicious steakhouse near the hotel + Santa Monica sunset
✔️ Return rental car at the airport the next day

The Shore Hotel, in particular, has paid parking,
and even if you park your car there all day, the parking fee is a maximum of 25 dollars,
so we parked our rental car and explored the nearby area on foot.
3. Why I Recommend The Shore Hotel in Santa Monica
Honestly, hotels in the Santa Monica area of LA
are quite expensive compared to other areas.
Because of this, it can be quite a burden,
but since we came all the way to LA, USA,
I felt I would regret not soaking in the beach atmosphere,
so I included a one-night stay at The Shore Hotel on our last day in LA.
Even though it's pricey, I felt it was absolutely worth it,
no regrets at all!! ❌❌

1️⃣ Spacious Rooms
The rooms were spacious with a modern interior, clean and spotless.
2️⃣ Outdoor Pool with a Great Vibe
A view that harmonizes beautifully with Santa Monica Beach
👉🏻 Highly recommended for sunset!

3️⃣ Excellent Location: Santa Monica Pier just a 1-minute walk away,
great accessibility to shopping and all the best restaurants.
4️⃣ Parking Available: Indoor paid parking available.
Convenient for staying the night before heading to the airport.
Especially, it's perfect for creating a romantic atmosphere,
I highly recommend it as an LA honeymoon hotel.
Compared to other 5-star brand hotels,
its location and atmosphere are much better!
4. My Stay Review at The Shore Hotel
On the last day of my LA trip,
before changing hotels.
In the morning, I explored Beverly Hills and The Getty area
before heading over to Santa Monica.

Although check-in is at 4 PM,
we were able to store our luggage, so we parked the rental car at the hotel
and went out to enjoy a beach stroll.

Nearby, there's Urth Caffé, a popular celebrity hotspot,
and Muscle Beach, making it a fantastic place to relax and enjoy some leisure time.

When check-in time rolled around, I headed back to the hotel,
and I was thrilled with how spacious both the room and the shower were!

What's more, our ground-floor room had a direct connection
to the outdoor pool, which was incredibly convenient.

Lounging on a sunbed by the pool,
you can even catch the Santa Monica sunset,
which was absolutely magical.
While the pool wasn't huge,
it was perfectly sufficient for soaking in the amazing ambiance.

The next day, we made our way to the airport.
It was only about a 30-minute drive,
making it super accessible.
We left our rental car parked at the hotel for the entire day,
and it was perfect to just hop in the car right after checking out
and head straight to the airport.
5. Top Tips for Booking LA Hotels at the Best Price

What I really took away from this LA trip was this:
"Even if it's pricey, indulge in what brings you joy!"
While the accommodation wasn't cheap,
I was so incredibly satisfied that if I ever come back,
I'd definitely want to stay there again for a night.
You can book the Shore Hotel through various platforms,
and the prices per night for each are as follows:
Platform | Feature | Cost per night |
Agoda | Non-refundable | ~$304 |
Trip.com | Lowest price booking available | ~$283 |
MyRealTrip | Refundable within 24 hours | ~$317 |

The place where you can book at the absolute lowest price is

6. Wrapping Up
When you're planning a trip to LA, choosing your accommodation
is incredibly important – it can truly make or break your itinerary.
If you're looking for great value and convenience, a guesthouse in Koreatown is a fantastic option.
But if it's ambiance and a special vibe you're after, a Santa Monica hotel is the way to go.

By combining these two options, I was able to craft
a truly efficient 4-night, 5-day itinerary.
The Shore Hotel, in particular, might be a bit pricier,
but I highly recommend staying there for at least one night.
If you're planning a free-and-easy trip to LA,
I hope you'll consider mixing a Koreatown guesthouse with a Santa Monica hotel, just like I did,
to create an incredibly satisfying itinerary!
Remember, the earlier you book your hotel, the better the price!
