Shanti Maurice Mauritius Resort: A Culinary Journey Through 3 Restaurants
Explore the diverse culinary scene at Shanti Maurice Resort in Mauritius. Discover three unique restaurants, from Indian Ocean flavors to authentic Mauritian home cooking, perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon.
Shanti Maurice Resort, Mauritius
A Detailed Review of Its 3 Restaurants
When we planned our honeymoon to Mauritius, the resort's dining options were a huge factor in our decision-making.
While I can't compare it to other resorts, the restaurants at Shanti Maurice truly exceeded our expectations.
Having stayed for four nights, we made sure to try every single one, so let me give you the full scoop!
1. Shanti Maurice Resort’s Restaurant Options

One of the biggest perks of staying at Shanti Maurice is the ability to enjoy a diverse range of culinary styles without ever leaving the resort. This was incredibly important to me, especially since its location isn't within walking distance of other dining spots. We booked a half-board package, which included breakfast and dinner, and I was thrilled by the variety we experienced over our four-night stay, even excluding the breakfast buffet.
The resort boasts three main restaurants (excluding bars):
Restaurant | Cuisine & Atmosphere |
Stars | Main restaurant featuring ingredients from the Indian Ocean region. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. |
Rum Shed Bar & Grill | Wood-fired oven and BBQ menus, grilled specialties. Offers a wide selection of rums. |
La Kaze Mama | Outdoor restaurant inspired by Mauritian home cooking. Serves local dishes and BBQ. |
These three establishments form the core, often operating alongside various themed dining experiences. So, while each restaurant has its standard offerings as listed above, you might find special menus or cuisines available depending on the day or time.
2. Our Experience at Each Restaurant

✔️ Stars
The main restaurant, Stars, often features special Asian or Middle Eastern culinary themes during specific hours. At lunchtime, they sometimes grill fresh-caught fish from the ocean. In the evenings, you can even opt for a romantic beachside dinner.
The photos above show some of our lunch selections. The seafood on the far right is a grilled catch of the day, with prices varying based on the market.

The romantic dinner is a set course, and while it was good, we actually found the dinners at the other restaurants to be even more delicious. Breakfast is also served in this same area, and it's probably when you'll see the most fellow guests!
It's a standard buffet setup.

Mini jam jars were conveniently placed at each table, and it was a typical 5-star hotel buffet – nothing overly special, but perfectly satisfying. Not much more to say about it, really!
✔️La Kaze Mama

At La Kaze Mama, on specific nights, they host an "Indian Delight" event where you can savor an incredible array of Indian curries and other authentic dishes. And let me tell you, it is absolutely delicious! During our four-night stay, the Indian Delight was only available for one evening, and it was a highlight. Given that Shanti Maurice is an Indian-owned resort, you can expect an exceptionally high standard of Indian cuisine. Highly recommended – you absolutely must try the curries!
✔️Rum Shed

The Rum Shed Bar & Grill was another restaurant where we had fantastic meals, though I'd particularly recommend the seafood over the meat options. My husband and I often reminisce about the colossal prawns we had here – truly a life-changing prawn experience!
Most visitors stay in Mauritius for 4-5 nights, and I firmly believe having diverse dining options is key to avoiding meal fatigue. You don't want to eat the same thing every day!
One important note: some restaurants at the resort may require a smart casual dress code. Women typically bring dresses, so it's usually not an issue, but gentlemen should pack a long-sleeved shirt to be on the safe side.
3. A Must-Return for Our 10th Anniversary

From the room conditions to every single restaurant and the wonderful staff, there was nothing we didn't adore about Shanti Maurice. It's truly a place we'd love to revisit for our 10th anniversary!
If anyone I know is planning a trip to Mauritius, I'd enthusiastically recommend this resort.
As of October 2026, for an arbitrary date, the price for a one-night stay shows significant variations across different booking platforms:
Booking Platform | 1-Night Price for 2 (Breakfast Included) | Notes |
~$690 | ||
~$717 | ||
~$672 | ||
~$693 | Possible ~$30 instant discount with certain cards |
Traveloka appears to be the most affordable option, with prices not significantly different from the official website. However, Traveloka often offers more flexible free cancellation terms compared to the official site, where a free cancellation booking for one night can exceed ~$740.
✔️✔️If you have access to specific local credit card promotions, platforms like StayNMore might offer the best deal, potentially including benefits like installment payments.✔️✔️
