Saizeriya Sapporo Susukino Review: Authentic Late-Night Eats
Looking for authentic, budget-friendly late-night dining in Sapporo? Saizeriya near Susukino Station is a local gem perfect after a day of exploring!
While traveling in Sapporo,
one thing that was trickier than I expected was finding late-night dinner.
On this particular day, I had visited Mount Moiwa Observatory
to watch the sunset and then the night view, and by the time I came down,
it was quite late.

Since my accommodation was near Susukino Station,
I looked for a Sapporo restaurant open late and found
Saizeriya!
I felt like I had heard of it before,
and indeed, it was a Japanese family restaurant
I had seen a few times on YouTube, haha.
It's famous among locals for its incredibly affordable prices and diverse menu,
making it a popular spot for Japanese locals.

Even though it was late when I visited,
it was almost completely filled with Japanese customers.
Best of all, even though the two of us ordered everything from salad to soup, pizza,
and doria,
the price was incredibly low,
so I'd like to recommend it to anyone looking for a great value restaurant in Susukino.
1. Basic Information
📍 Saizeriya
Japan 〒064-0804 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, Minami 4 Jōnishi, 4-chōme−5−4 Matsuoka Building 2F
📍 Susukino
4-chōme-1 Minami 4 Jōnishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 064-0804 Japan
📢 Address: Japan, 〒064-0804 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, Minami 4 Jonishi, 4 Chome−5−4 Matsuoka Building 2F
📢 Location: Right in front of Susukino Station Exit 2
📢 Opening Hours: 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM

The Saizeriya I visited
is really close to Susukino Station Exit 2.
It's so close you practically arrive as soon as you exit the station,
making it easy to find even when you're tired after a full day of exploring.
It's on the second floor of the building diagonally across from the famous Nikka sign,
which you'll surely recognize when traveling in Sapporo,
so finding its location wasn't difficult at all.

The time we arrived was
around 9:30 PM,
and there was still a wait even at that hour...?
(It was a Saturday, though.)
I figured we'd get right in since it was so late,
but I think we waited for about 30 minutes.
Since there were only two of us, we got a spot relatively quickly,
but if you're a group of 3-4, you might have to wait a bit longer.
So, just because they're open late, don't assume
it will be quiet if you go late, haha!
2. Interior Atmosphere

Stepping inside,
it felt less like a Sapporo restaurant tourists would seek out,
and much more like an authentic local Japanese family restaurant.
Especially on the day I went, looking around,
I think almost everyone there was Japanese, except for us.
So, rather than visiting a famous tourist hotspot,
it felt like we'd stumbled into a local eatery
where Japanese people typically go to eat,
and that was quite fun in its own way.

You order using your smartphone.
Each table has a number,
and all you do is scan the QR code, enter your table number,
then order your desired dishes – it's that simple!
If you want more food later, you can just add to your order via the QR code again,
so there's no need to order too much right from the start.
We initially thought the portion sizes looked small,
and planned to order more...
But in the end, we couldn't order anything extra, haha!
It's surprisingly filling.
3. Menu

The most surprising thing about Saizeriya was definitely the prices.
Most menu items were in the 300-400 yen range,
so when I first saw the menu, I genuinely wondered if those prices were real.
The menu items we ordered were:
All-you-can-drink for 2 people: 400 yen
Shrimp Salad: 350 yen
Onion Soup: 300 yen
Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese Pizza: 400 yen
Doria: 350 yen
This is what we chose.
Even though there were two of us, we didn't just order one dish, but rather
picked a variety of things, and
It was great that we could share everything.
Especially the shrimp salad – I'd seen so many people order it on YouTube when visiting Saizeriya, so I was curious and decided to try it myself!
And after coming down from Mount Moiwa after admiring the night view, we were absolutely freezing, haha!
So, a warm onion soup was an immediate order!

However, because of the wait,
our order time went just a few minutes past 10 PM – around 10:03 or 10:04 PM –
and as a result, a 10% surcharge was added because it was after 10 PM. Ugh!
Extra charge for just a few minutes...
Still, the base prices are so incredibly affordable that
it wasn't a huge burden at all.
4. Taste Review

First off, my top pick was definitely the shrimp salad!
Honestly, I'm not usually one to
go out of my way for salads, haha!
But I truly cleaned this plate right down to the last bite.
The shrimp were more plentiful than I expected,
and they were so plump and fresh.

The sauce tasted like a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise,
but it had an extra layer of umami
that made it absolutely addictive.
I noticed they sell the sauce separately,
and after trying it, I totally understood why!
If I ever go back to Saizeriya, this is definitely a must-order for me.

And then there was the onion soup, which was exactly what I needed that day.
We had spent so much time admiring the night view from the Mount Moiwa observatory
that we came down shivering from the cold. Oh, the chills!
Taking just one sip of that warm soup felt like pure salvation.
With plenty of onions, it was sweet, and with the added cheese and bread,
it was surprisingly hearty for just 300 yen.

To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for the pizza since it was only 400 yen.
I just figured it would be decent for the price,
but the crust was surprisingly chewy,
and there was a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top.
While eating, my husband and I kept saying,
"If Saizeriya was in Korea, we'd be here all the time, haha!"
I remember that moment clearly.

Last but not least, the Doria!
When it first came out, the bowl looked small,
so I thought the portion would be tiny.
But it was packed with rice inside,
so as I ate, it actually turned out to be quite filling.
It's a classic combination of meat sauce, cheese, and rice,
so while it's not a super new or extraordinary flavor,
it's a comforting and familiar taste that's hard to get wrong.
But it's 350 yen...
When you consider the price, honestly, words just fail you, haha!

At first, each dish looked like a small portion,
so we planned to order more if we weren't full. But after having the
salad, soup, pizza, and doria, it was actually plenty for the two of us!

The basic total for the menu items we ordered was 1,800 yen.
With the 10% surcharge for ordering after 10 PM,
our final bill came to about 1,980 yen.
For two people to eat such a variety of dishes at this price... incredible!
While traveling in Sapporo,
we found that meals at famous restaurants could get quite pricey.
But at Saizeriya, the best part was being able to order a little bit of everything
without worrying about the cost!
5. Who Would I Recommend This To?

I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a late dinner, just like me!
Most Japanese restaurants tend to close a bit early,
which often leaves you wondering where to eat. But Saizeriya stays open late,
which was incredibly convenient.
Plus, it's right in front of Susukino Station Exit 2!
When your legs are aching after a full day of exploring,
that's a seriously huge advantage, haha!

It's also a great option for those who want to experience the vibe of a local favorite,
where Japanese people casually dine, rather than a famous Sapporo restaurant packed with tourists.
Since the prices are so affordable, it was really fun to order various dishes like salad, pizza, soup, and doria,
and share them all.
However, Saizeriya
isn't a restaurant found exclusively in Sapporo,
so if you're seeking
special dishes you can only savor in Hokkaido,
its priority might be a bit lower.
I actually originally visited this place while looking for
a great late-night restaurant in Susukino.
But since I had always wanted to try Saizeriya,
experiencing it firsthand was quite satisfying!

Especially the shrimp salad and pizza —
on my next trip to Japan,
if I see a Saizeriya, I'll definitely eat them again, haha!
If you're looking for a place for a late dinner during your Sapporo trip,
or seeking an affordable and delicious restaurant near Susukino Station
that's easy on the wallet,
give Saizeriya a visit!
