Both sets of parents + our couple together,
The biggest concern while preparing for our Sapporo trip was,
unsurprisingly, the accommodation.
We know Japanese accommodations can be small, but
we wanted it to be as spacious as possible for our parents' comfort.
We also wanted them to enjoy a warm breakfast
and sleep soundly in a place with excellent soundproofing.
+ A location with short travel routes was what we looked for, and that led us to
The Knot Sapporo

Just a 3-minute walk to Susukino Station.
A 3-minute walk through the underground passage to Don Quijote.
It's even connected to Sapporo Station via an underground passage,
making it absolutely perfect for a winter Sapporo trip.
1. Sapporo Accommodation Location with Parents

Since it was a trip to Sapporo in the cold winter,
we wanted to minimize above-ground travel as much as possible,
so we searched for a hotel connected to the underground passage
that links Sapporo Station to Susukino Station.
Sapporo in January has incredibly biting winds,
to the point where my nose hurt just from breathing while walking.
Even for someone in their early 30s it was tough, so imagine for parents in their 60s ㅜㅜ

Connecting the hotel to the underground passage was definitely the right choice.
Being able to access restaurants that stay open late after tours or day trips,
and even Don Quijote, all via the underground passage,
meant that in terms of location, it was fantastic!

What's more, we had booked a Biei tour departing from Susukino Station,
so only having to brave the cold wind for just 3 minutes
to catch our tour bus was also a huge plus!
2. The Knot Sapporo Superior Twin
Since there were 6 of us in total – both sets of parents plus my husband and I –
we stayed in three Superior Twin rooms for 3 nights.
But can you believe the room size?
Honestly, Japanese hotels are famously small, but
I never once thought it was cramped.

The two suitcases you see in the photo are both 28 inches,
and even though the beds were 'twin,' one felt as wide as a double,
making it great for each person to comfortably sprawl out on their own bed!
Plus, to make up for not having a large public bath,
there was a bathtub in every room, so we could even enjoy half-body baths.

I worried that being so close to Susukino Station might mean a lot of noise, but
when the windows were closed, it was well soundproofed and completely silent.
It wasn't just me who thought so;
other guests also said the soundproofing was excellent.

Amenities were laid out on the second floor, categorized by type,
so you could take as much as you needed.

In the past, when you checked in, they would give you coins
that you could use to buy drinks at the bar.
However, since February 2026, it seems that upon check-in,
it has changed to a 1-drink ticket.

The drink ticket allowed us to enjoy a cozy atmosphere in the 2nd-floor lobby lounge in the evening, perfect for having a beer,
and we ended up chatting away for quite a while, just relaxing ㅎㅎ
While you might think it's all just 'included in the accommodation cost' –
having a drink in the evening instead of a welcome drink felt pretty nice.
The lobby bar atmosphere was so good, there was no need to go to an expensive bar elsewhere; it was quiet and perfect!

Even if it wasn't a huge room or an apartment, having a space like this was absolutely wonderful.
My photos might not do it justice, but there's even an indoor fire-gazing space! +_+

So, how much does a hotel like this cost? Based on weekday rates in late January 2027, here's the price for the Superior Twin room I stayed in (breakfast not included, free cancellation available).
Agoda | ~$178 | |
Trip.com | ~$164 | |
MyRealTrip | ~$171 |
• The cheapest Standard Queen room for the same period was around ~$134 per night.
💰 TAX
According to Hokkaido regulations, you have to pay a lodging tax, and the tax amount varies depending on the accommodation fee.
Per person per night, less than 20,000 JPY: 330 JPY (VAT included)
Per person per night, less than 50,000 JPY: 440 JPY (VAT included)
Per person per night, 50,000 JPY or more: 1,100 JPY (VAT included)
Unless it's during the Sapporo Snow Festival or peak season, The Knot Sapporo is typically less than 20,000 JPY per person per night, so you can expect the lodging tax to be 330 JPY per night.
(During the Snow Festival, accommodation for 2 people = around ~$334 😱)

3. Breakfast is delicious
I know Sapporo cuisine is fantastic, but the hotel breakfast was so memorable that it was truly outstanding.

While you can certainly enjoy the buffet, the breakfast set, featuring salad, fish, and steamed egg custard, comes served as a complete meal, along with miso soup and rice – my parents were incredibly satisfied, which says a lot!

The breakfast buffet costs 2,800 JPY (approx. ~$17) per person, but I recommend *not* booking the hotel with breakfast included. Instead, pay only for the days you want to have breakfast when you check in.
Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 11:00, so if you're heading out early for a Biei tour, you'd miss it, and that would be a waste, right?
During my 3-night stay, I had breakfast twice, and it was perfectly satisfying.

And personally, I loved the wide selection of teas! I've never seen a breakfast place with 20 types of tea before, haha!
(I might have 'borrowed' two tea bags 😅)

The convenience of being connected to Sapporo's underground passageway, the easy walking distance to Susukino Station and Don Quijote, the elegant lobby bar atmosphere, and the spacious rooms – everything was thoroughly satisfying, making The Knot Sapporo a place I'd definitely revisit!

During my trip to Sapporo with my parents, they even commented, 'This hotel is truly stylish,' so if you're planning a trip with your parents, definitely consider this place too! :)
