So, why did I choose this place?

I was looking for a ryokan with a large public bath (daikokuen) in Sapporo,

but most of the famous onsen ryokans were too far from the city center.

Onsen towns like Jozankei are wonderful, but

traveling there would have been too much of a hassle to combine with Sapporo city sightseeing.

I chose Yuen Sapporo because it's right in the city center, yet still lets you enjoy an onsen.

You can experience both the authentic ryokan atmosphere and a public bath without disrupting your sightseeing itinerary.

At around ~$138, I thought it offered pretty good value for a city-center ryokan.

My third choice, the Sapporo Stream Hotel, was an instant decision purely based on its location.

It's a brand-new hotel, established in 2024, and with reviews praising its cleanliness and comfort, there was no need to hesitate.

Why did I choose it, you ask?

It's located right in front of the building with the famous Susukino Nikka Whiskey billboard.

The location was so perfect that I booked it immediately.

Being in the heart of Susukino means ramen, izakayas, and Genghis Khan BBQ are all within walking distance at night.

Plus, the night view from the hotel terrace is absolutely stunning!

There are two room types, and I opted for the Superior Double Room (24.2㎡). It's quite spacious for a Japanese hotel, so there should be plenty of room to open up my suitcase.

Reviews from Korean visitors also consistently rated it around 10 out of 10, so I booked with confidence!

Since breakfast is said to be delicious, I booked it along with the room.

They say it features Hokkaido specialties like tuna, salmon, Sapporo soup curry, and lamb.

I'll share my experience and review after I've actually tried it.

Susukino is the hub for nightlife and food, so if you plan to enjoy yourself late into the night, staying inside Susukino will save you from transportation stress.
