The Gate Hotel Sapporo Review 2026: Station Access & Grand Bath
Discover The Gate Hotel Sapporo by Hulic, a new 4-star gem directly connected to Sapporo Station. Enjoy spacious rooms, a grand public bath, and special booking discounts for your next Hokkaido adventure!

Personally, the Sapporo hotel that truly impressed me during my trip was none other than
The Gate Hotel Sapporo by HULIC.
It's **directly connected to Sapporo Station, brand new, and the rooms are incredibly spacious**, which made our stay super comfortable.
You can even **book it for around ~$73 per night during the winter peak season**, and I'll even share a **pro tip for a 5% booking discount**!
1. Why I Recommend a Hotel Near Sapporo Station

When choosing accommodation in Sapporo, many travelers opt for areas around **Sapporo Station,**
**Odori Station, or Susukino Station**.
This is because these three areas are connected by underground walkways, making it convenient
to explore restaurants, shopping malls, and travel by subway.
→ However, what turned out to be even more crucial than the distance to the station was
**whether it had an underground connection**.
On heavy snowfall days, the sidewalks themselves were uneven, and my suitcase wheels kept getting stuck in the snow,
making even a few steps quite a struggle! 😭😭

📌 Advantages of The Gate Hotel Sapporo by HULIC
· **Directly connected to Sapporo Station** via its basement entrance
(just about a minute's walk to the subway ticket gates)
· A **brand-new 4-star hotel** that opened in 2025
· Features a **large communal bath (onsen-style)** on the 11th floor
Even the standard rooms start from approximately 26㎡, which is quite spacious for Japanese accommodation.
If you're looking to tick off location, room size, and a communal bath all at once around Sapporo Station, this was a fantastic choice!
2. The Gate Hotel Twin Room

The Gate Hotel by HULIC offers a wide variety of room types,
from Standard Hollywood Twin Rooms to Corner Twin Rooms,
Deluxe Rooms, and even Suites.
The room I stayed in was the most basic type, the
**Standard Hollywood Twin Room**, and it measured approximately 26㎡.

Even though it was a standard room, it wasn't just a bare-bones space with only a bed; there was a
**separate table and sofa area** to the side, which made it feel much more spacious than I expected.
There was still plenty of room to move around even with our suitcases open, and it was perfect
for sitting at the table to enjoy snacks or work on a laptop.
With views of Sapporo Station and Daimaru Department Store from the window, it perfectly set the vacation mood.

The bathroom was also delightful, with the
**washbasin, toilet, and shower area all separated**.
The bathroom was equipped with both a regular shower and a rain shower,
plus a bathtub, making it convenient even if our preparation times overlapped.
I booked about two months before my trip, and it was around ~$146 per night,
but now it's showing for around ~$73 per night even during peak season.

3. Detailed Room Review

After checking in, the first thing I loved was the
spotless cleanliness unique to a new hotel.
The furniture and bathroom also showed almost no signs of use.

Amenities were all provided in the room,
from shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand wash
to toothbrushes, toothpaste, cotton pads, and cotton swabs.

The hairdryer was also a new model, and the airflow wasn't weak at all!

The closet also had thick slippers and a deodorizer.
When you enjoy ramen or Genghis Khan, food smells can easily
cling to your outerwear, and the deodorizer came in really handy for those occasions.

Next to the bed, there were both USB-C and USB charging ports,
so I didn't need to dig out multiple travel chargers.
What was truly thoughtful was that the drawer even contained
USB-C and Lightning cables.

The room had an electric kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine,
and two bottles of mineral water were provided daily.
There were water purifiers on each floor and near the public bath,
so I rarely needed to buy extra water. Plus, with a
Lawson convenience store right in front of the B1 entrance,
grabbing snacks or drinks was incredibly convenient!👍🏻👍🏻

What I was most satisfied with, however, was the
humidifier and air purifier combo!
In many Japanese hotels, if the heating is on high in winter,
I often wake up with a dry throat. But by filling it with water and turning on the humidifying function,
the room felt much less dry. (My skin was definitely saved!)

The pajamas provided on the bed were so comfortable that I kept wearing them,
and it was even better that I could go to the public bath in my pajamas and slippers.😊😊
4. Sapporo Public Bath Hotel Review
The Gate Hotel Sapporo by Hulic is
the GOAT among Sapporo Station hotels for a reason..👍🏻
It's simply because it's a hotel that even boasts a spacious public bath!
The large public bath is located on the 11th floor,
and you can use it from 6 AM to 10 AM, and then from 2 PM
until 1:30 AM.

I used it right after check-in and again late at night,
and it was incredibly well-maintained and clean throughout.
On the night after walking through the snowy streets all day,
sinking into the warm water, I could truly feel
the fatigue melting away from my legs.
In the past, when I stayed at accommodations in Sapporo without a public bath,
I would fill the bathtub in my room to warm up,
but relaxing in a spacious public bath was a far more satisfying experience!

Lotion, essence, and even cleansing oil were provided,
and there were not just hairdryers, but also various types of hair straighteners available.
Preparation was simple:
just put your towel and a change of clothes in the bag provided in your room's closet, and head down in your pajamas.

On the same 11th floor, there's also a fitness center,
which you can use from 6 AM to 11 PM.
With a water purifier and towels provided, a morning workout
followed by a relaxing soak in the public bath seemed like a perfect plan!
5. Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM
and costs 3,800 yen per person.
You choose one main dish from options like Egg Benedict, French Toast, or Japanese home-style cuisine,
and then enjoy a semi-buffet alongside it.
(I chose the Japanese home-style cuisine.)

Beyond the Japanese home-style meal I chose, the semi-buffet offers
a wide variety of items including salads, bakery goods, and fruits,
and most importantly, it's run impeccably clean and with a touch of luxury!
I personally love Japanese hotel breakfasts,
and this one was exceptionally satisfying, truly one of the best!👍🏻👍🏻
I highly recommend trying it at least once during your stay.
Extra Tip: For delicious restaurants connected directly to the hotel,
Sapporo Station Suage and Butadon Ippin are great choices.
They're accessible via an underground passage, so you don't have to step outside into the cold on chilly days!
✔ Those who want to move directly underground from Sapporo Station
✔ Those looking for a newly built Sapporo hotel with spacious rooms
✔ Those who want to melt away their fatigue in a large public bath
I especially recommend this Sapporo accommodation for travelers matching the descriptions above!
During peak season, room rates can climb quickly,
so if your travel dates are set, it's wise to compare prices as soon as possible.
