Booking Your Sapporo Biei Tour
Comparing Bus Tour Operators for Ningle Terrace
If you're planning a winter trip to Sapporo, an absolute must-do
on your itinerary will be a Biei tour!
With so many operators out there, it can be tough to compare
and decide which one to choose, right?
That's why I've done all the heavy lifting for you and
compared most of the operators so you can see them all at a glance!
Bus Tour Operators

✔ My Top 3 Criteria
When I was choosing my Biei tour, I focused on
these three key things:
🔗Whether the tour **visits Ningle Terrace**
🔗The tour's **price** versus its inclusions
🔗Whether **Junpei Restaurant reservations** are available
I especially recommend visiting Ningle Terrace! It's truly a magical place if there's plenty of snow.
❤️Here's the tour I ultimately chose!
Bus Tour | Price | Features |
White Shadow Tour ❄️Recommended❄️ | ~$56~ | - Visits Ningle Terrace - Does not visit sledding area - Junpei reservations available (includes regular closing days) - Late meeting time at 9:20 AM |
Indigo Travel | ~$71~ | - Most reviews - Visits sledding area - DSLR photo shoot - Junpei restaurant available (includes regular closing days) |
N Day Trip | ~$49~ | - No sledding area, no Ningle Terrace - Junpei reservation service (restaurant, bento box) - Guaranteed departure even for solo travelers |
Raku Tour | ~$56~ | - Junpei bento box reservation - Visits sledding area |
Soso Bus ❄️Recommended❄️ | ~$51~ | - Visits sledding area & Ningle Terrace - No Junpei restaurant, bento box reservation - Affordable price |
Sapporo Base Camp | ~$64~ | - Visits Ningle Terrace - Does not visit sledding area - Junpei reservations (no waiting) |
Rental Car | ~$29~ | - Travels according to your desired route - Difficult to drive on snowy roads and at night |
Even after narrowing it down to highly-rated and trustworthy operators, there are still so many, right? Among them, I particularly recommend the White Shadow Tour and the Soso Bus Tour!

The White Shadow Tour visits Ningle Terrace but doesn't go to a sledding area, so it's a great option if you're not interested in sledding. Plus, Junpei restaurant reservations are available!
The Soso Bus Tour visits both (sledding area and Ningle Terrace), but the Junpei reservation is for a bento box, not a restaurant meal, so I passed on that one.
However, since it's more affordable, I'd recommend it if you don't mind a bento box!
Takushinkan

The most famous spot at Takushinkan is definitely the beautiful birch tree forest path!
The trees are incredibly tall, creating a truly magnificent sight.
📌 Tip
The path to the right from the entrance tends to be crowded.
If you follow the path leading to the left,
you'll discover a secluded spot perfect for photos!

Inside Takushinkan, you'll find an exhibition featuring the works of photographer Shinzo Maeda,
showcasing stunning Biei landscape photographs, and there's also
a charming cafe and a selection of lovely souvenirs.
Shirohige Waterfall

Shirohige Waterfall truly shines with its magnificent snow-covered scenery,
though when I visited, some of the snow had melted away.
In February, however, there are hardly any days without snow,
so you can expect to see a pristine white waterfall just like in the picture on the left!

And don't miss the vending machine nearby – it's another fun photo op!
so be sure to grab a snap there~
Junpei

For lunch, we headed to Junpei, a fantastic restaurant recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand Special mention!
I tried their most famous dish, Ebi-don (shrimp tempura rice bowl),
and it was absolutely incredibly delicious! I'm already dreaming of going back for more ㅠㅠ

During lunchtime, nearly all tour groups flock here,
so expect a potentially long wait if you arrive without a reservation.
Luckily, our White Shadow Tour included a restaurant reservation,
making our dining experience so much smoother and more enjoyable!
Christmas Tree

Here's the most iconic Christmas Tree!
Even though it draws a crowd, the path is wide enough that
you'll have no trouble getting amazing photos.

It's a good idea to plan your poses in advance...
I didn't, so I just stuck my hand out haha!
Ningle Terrace
Next up is Ningle Terrace – a place so magical it simply can't be
fully captured in photos or videos! It's truly so much more enchanting in real life!

Each cozy cabin sells unique handicrafts, charming accessories, delicious coffee, and more,
making it so much fun to explore and browse.
You'll have plenty of time here, so I highly recommend taking your time to wander around leisurely.

After Ningle Terrace, the tour concludes with drop-offs at either Odori Park or
Susukino.
You can choose your preferred drop-off location, and since it will be
around 8 PM, I highly recommend getting off at Susukino,
enjoying dinner there, and then heading back to your accommodation.

The Biei Tour – an absolute must-do for your winter Sapporo adventure!
I've been in summer too, but winter definitely took the satisfaction factor way up!
There's not much time left until March, so don't wait!
Make sure to pick a tour that includes the magical Ningle Terrace!
