It's a fantastic spot to enjoy some delicious beer and

How to Get to the Beer Museum

Since it's a bit removed from central Sapporo,

you'll need to catch a bus or a taxi.

You can take bus number 88 from the Odori Park bus stop, where you'll see the Sapporo TV Tower,

or from a stop near Sapporo Station.

It'll drop you right in front of the Beer Museum.

Just a heads-up: in Japan, you board buses through the rear door

and exit through the front.

While more buses nowadays accept Visa cards,

many buses in Sapporo still only take cash.

The fare from central Sapporo to the Beer Museum is

240 yen, so make sure to have cash ready!

You pay when you get off.

There's no separate reservation required for the free museum admission,

red-brick building, though it's currently undergoing exterior renovations.

Inside the Museum

Beer tastings are only available after you've explored the museum.

Just take the elevator up to the 3rd floor,

The time it takes depends on how thoroughly you explore, but

for me, it was less than 10 minutes.

There's an exhibition hall where you can discover the history of Sapporo Beer.

You can even scan a QR code for explanations in Korean!

It's also fascinating to trace the evolution of early beer label designs and browse through vintage advertising posters!

Paid Beer Tasting

Once you've finished exploring and head downstairs, you'll spot the queue for the paid beer tasting. It might look long, but don't worry, it moves surprisingly fast!

They offer three types of beer: Black Label, Classic, and Original (based on the initial recipe from when Sapporo was founded!). Each costs 450 yen, 450 yen, and 550 yen, respectively.

For true beer aficionados, I highly recommend getting the 1,200 yen set – that way you can savor all three varieties!

You can also grab some light bites like peanut crackers and cheese to go with your brew.

Good news! They accept both cash and Visa cards. Plus, there was a super helpful staff member who spoke Korean (turns out they were actually Korean themselves! 😉), which made paying a breeze.

Simply grab your ticket from the vending machine, hand it over to the staff, and they'll expertly pour your fresh brew!

Ah, nothing beats a fresh Sapporo draft beer!

Even though it gets quite busy, there are plenty of tables. And with a 30-minute time limit for tasting, seats open up surprisingly fast, so you won't be waiting long!

At 240ml each, three glasses disappear quickly between two adults! For me, the Black Label was the most well-balanced and approachable, while my husband absolutely loved the Classic.

While each had its own distinct flavor profile, all three were incredibly refreshing and delicious. There's just nothing like a fresh draft beer right from its origin!
