Given that it's a budget-friendly option in Sapporo, don't expect lavish rooms. You'll find comfortable beds perfect for a good night's sleep, along with shared bathrooms and shower facilities. It's exactly what you need for a no-frills, authentic experience.

Why SappoLodge is a Great Pick

The real gem of SappoLodge is undoubtedly its inviting first-floor lounge and bar. This is where the magic happens! You can grab a delicious meal here, enjoy a refreshing beer, or simply unwind after a day of exploring.

I remember one evening, I was too comfortable to venture out, so I just settled in, had dinner, and stayed for a few drinks after my shower.

One beer led to another, and soon I was happily sipping on a lemon sour, soaking in the relaxed vibe. It was the perfect end to a day of sightseeing!

There's also a communal kitchen if you want to whip up something simple, though with the bar serving food, you'll likely only use it for breakfast. It's great to have the option for a quick bite before heading out.

Tucked away in the kitchen area is a world map where guests pin their hometowns. It's always fun to see how many fellow travelers have passed through, and it really adds to the communal spirit of these charming, budget-friendly Sapporo spots.

As night falls, the lodge takes on an even cozier, more atmospheric glow. While it's not far from the city center, the immediate surroundings don't have a ton of dining or entertainment options, which honestly just made it easier to embrace the lodge's own offerings. Given its prime location and excellent value, SappoLodge truly stands out as a fantastic budget choice in Sapporo.

It's surprisingly popular! As I was putting this post together, I noticed that several dates for late 2026 and early 2027 were already booked up, so if you're planning a trip, I recommend booking well in advance.

Interestingly, they were also looking for staff when I visited. It made me think about those adventurous souls who travel the world, working at guesthouses like this for a few hours a day in exchange for a bed and meals, then moving on to their next adventure. With only 3-5 hours of work daily and plenty of free time, it could be a cool option for long-term travelers looking to stretch their budget, though of course, weighing the opportunity cost is always smart. It was my first guesthouse stay in a while, and the atmosphere and overall vibe were really enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend SappoLodge for a unique, budget-friendly stay in Sapporo, especially for a night or two.
