Discover Sangmu Sushi Dongtan, a local favorite for delicious sushi and incredible fried sides. Find out why this spot offers consistent quality and a perfect dining experience.
Sangmu Sushi is a popular sushi franchise in Korea, and my partner and I are absolutely obsessed with it! We've visited three different branches over ten times, and the quality is consistently excellent. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, and their side dishes? They're fantastic, especially with a drink or two.
This review is for the Dongtan branch, located in Dongyang Paragon 2 in 1st Dongtan's Bukgwangjang area. Prepare to fall in love!

1. Inside Sangmu Sushi Dongtan

Upon entering, you'll notice waiting chairs, suggesting it can get quite busy during peak hours. Next to the counter, there's a shelf for delivery pickups.
This clearly shows that Sangmu Sushi is a true local favorite in Dongtan, popular for both dine-in and takeout/delivery orders! 🤩

We visited a bit later, around 8:30 PM. With the last order at 9:20 PM, there were hardly any dine-in customers, but delivery drivers were constantly coming and going.
2. Sangmu Sushi Dongtan Menu

At Sangmu Sushi Dongtan, ordering a set menu is usually the easiest option. Besides the ones pictured, they offer other combination sets and à la carte sushi. For a full detailed menu, I recommend checking their Naver Map listing.
3. Jinshim Assorted Sushi & Jabushim Assorted Sushi

When you order an assorted sushi set, it automatically includes a complimentary udon and miso soup! I remember that during the summer, they swap the udon for chilled buckwheat noodles, which is a nice touch.
Seriously, this place is all about the sushi, but why is their udon so incredibly delicious? 😋

You're also served a refreshing tomato & onion pickle, which makes for a perfect appetizer, and some 'washed kimchi.' This washed kimchi is an absolute game-changer with raw fish, so my partner and I always ask for a refill! 😉
Pickled ginger and rakkyo (pickled scallions) are available on each table, so you can help yourself to as much as you like.

On the left, you see the Jinshim (Sincere) Assorted Sushi, and on the right, the Jabushim (Pride) Assorted Sushi. Both are 10-piece sets, but their compositions differ slightly.
The Jinshim set includes tamagoyaki (egg roll) and futomaki, while the Jabushim set features more raw fish and tuna, along with soy-marinated shrimp and eel.
We find that 10 pieces of sushi are just right at Sangmu Sushi because you *have* to save room for their amazing side dishes and drinks! 🤣🤣
4. Sangmu Sushi's Fried Squid Legs: The Perfect Bar Snack
So, what kind of bar snacks are we talking about? One of the main reasons my partner and I adore Sangmu Sushi is their incredible fried dishes! We've rarely left after just one beer... if ever!

On this visit, we enjoyed the fried squid legs alongside individual Asahi draft beers, and naturally, we ended up sharing a bottle of Terra beer.

The squid was perfectly fried—crispy, not greasy, and wonderfully savory. And that dipping sauce? Mayonnaise with shichimi spice? Irresistible!,,,,,,,,,

It seems whenever we visit Sangmu Sushi, we lose all self-control (in a good way!) and order more drinks. I just wish they'd open a branch closer to my house!

To top it all off, they even serve a complimentary plum or omija tea at the end—a truly authentic touch that makes this spot a fundamental favorite.
That concludes my personal review of Sangmu Sushi Dongtan, a must-try restaurant in 1st Dongtan's Namgwangjang area! :>
You can enjoy 2 hours of free parking at the Dongyang Paragon 2 underground parking lot. If you use the Namgwangjang Public Parking Lot, you can receive 1 hour and 30 minutes of free parking.
Both menus consist of 10 pieces of sushi, but their compositions differ. 'Jinsim Modum Sushi' includes egg roll (tamagoyaki) and futomaki, while 'Jabushim Modum Sushi' includes more fresh fish (hwal-eo), tuna, soy-marinated shrimp, and eel.
The article recommends fried squid legs and mentions enjoying them with Asahi draft beer or Terra beer. When ordering a sushi platter, udon and Jang-guk (miso soup) are provided as standard, along with tomato & onion pickles and washed kimchi.
