One of the experiences I was most excited about during my recent trip to Los Angeles was visiting an outdoor rooftop movie theater.
I headed to the famous Rooftop Cinema Club DTLA, a stunning venue where you can watch classic films while surrounded by the dazzling Downtown LA skyline.
Today, I'm sharing my honest review of watching the iconic film "La La Land" under the stars, along with practical tips on concessions, seating, and amenities.

My Rooftop Cinema Club Review
As the name suggests, this cinema sits right on a hotel rooftop, offering breathtaking, panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline as day turns to night.
The entrance is located near the hotel's parking garage. If you get turned around, just ask any staff member—they are incredibly friendly and helpful.
💡 Pro-Tip
Seating is first-come, first-served within your ticket category. I highly recommend lining up early if you want to snag the perfect spot!
When you check in, they'll scan your reservation QR code, hand you a drink coupon (depending on your ticket), and provide a pair of high-quality wireless headphones.
These headphones make a massive difference, keeping you fully immersed in the film despite the ambient city sounds.
The rooftop features both single and double lounge chairs. You can choose where to sit based on the ticket type you booked.
On the side, there are also tables with board games if you want to hang out before the screening starts.
There's also a cute photo zone where everyone stops to take aesthetic pictures before the movie starts.
Before the opening credits rolled, I stopped by the concession stand to grab some nachos, a hot dog, and a glass of wine.

While the prices are on the higher side—popcorn is $6.50, nachos are $7, hot dogs are $7, and wine is $12—munching on snacks with that skyline view makes it totally worth it.
The evening breeze was lovely, but as the night went on, it did get a bit chilly.
I highly recommend bringing a light jacket, a cozy sweater, or a warm blanket to stay comfortable.
The screen was bright and clear, and the wireless headphones delivered crisp, immersive audio that blocked out the bustling city noise below.

You'll find all the classic movie theater snacks like popcorn, nachos, and hot dogs, alongside a selection of beer, wine, and soft drinks.
I suggest grabbing your seats first, then heading over to buy your snacks so you can settle in comfortably.
Prices are slightly premium compared to standard cinemas, but considering the unique rooftop ambiance, it's a fair trade-off.
Clean, gender-neutral restrooms are located just to the left of the entrance.
They are well-maintained, but it's a good idea to visit them before the movie starts to avoid missing any scenes.
