When planning a trip to Okinawa,
finding the perfect place to stay can be a real challenge.
Since it was my first time visiting Okinawa, I wanted to stay right in downtown Naha.
However, I quickly realized that prime locations often come with a hefty price tag,
while the more budget-friendly options felt a bit compromised in terms of location or room condition...

That is when I stumbled upon a hidden gem:
"Richmond Hotel Naha Kumoji"
This hotel offers the perfect balance of location and value.
Even better news: it is undergoing a full property renovation
and is set to grand reopen on 07/13/2026!
Spacious rooms, great rates, and a fresh new look.
Here is my honest review after a wonderful 4-day, 3-night family stay.

For our family trip to Okinawa, we booked the Triple Room.
It features two single beds plus one comfortable extra bed.

Usually, when you add an extra bed to a standard room, the space feels incredibly tight.
But to our surprise, this room did not feel cramped at all.

The layout was generous enough that we could fully open all of our suitcases with room to spare.
It was also the perfect spot to gather in the evening for convenience store snacks and drinks.

The bathroom was exceptionally clean and well-maintained.

We were already incredibly satisfied with our stay,
but knowing that the hotel is reopening after a full remodel on July 13th
means future travelers will get to experience brand-new, pristine facilities.

The pricing is highly competitive compared to other family hotels in Okinawa.
During the low season, rates hover around ~$66 per night.
For a spacious room in a freshly renovated hotel, this level of value in downtown Naha is hard to beat!
The hotel is a quick 3-minute walk from Miebashi Station on the Yui Rail.
It is also just about a 10-minute walk from Kokusai Dori (International Street), Naha's main bustling strip.

If you are exploring Okinawa without a rental car,
the proximity to Miebashi Station makes commuting a breeze.
It is also very close to Tomari Port, the main gateway for ferries to the stunning Kerama Islands.

While a 10-minute walk to Kokusai Dori might seem slightly removed,
we actually preferred it. It kept us away from the noisy crowds,
allowing us to enjoy peaceful, quiet nights.

The area around Miebashi Station is not overrun with tourists.
It is filled with charming local izakayas frequented by residents,
making it the perfect spot to soak in the authentic neighborhood vibe of Okinawa.

There is a 7-Eleven convenience store located right on the first floor of the hotel building.
It was incredibly convenient for late-night snack runs or grabbing a cold beer without stepping outside.
But the absolute best perk of staying at Richmond Hotel Naha Kumoji is the
Free Lounge Service!

As a guest, you can enjoy complimentary coffee and soft drinks,
along with unlimited servings of Okinawa's famous "Blue Seal Ice Cream"!

They offer four different flavors, but the standout was definitely the
Beni-imo (Okinawan purple sweet potato) flavor. It was absolutely delicious!
We made sure to grab some every single day of our 4-day trip.
Having free access to Blue Seal saved us a nice chunk of change on desserts!
Driving in the dead center of Kokusai Dori can be stressful due to heavy traffic and narrow roads,
even for experienced drivers.

Because Richmond Hotel is located slightly off the main strip,
navigating your rental car in and out is much smoother and stress-free.
Most hotels in Okinawa charge guests a separate parking fee.
While there are coin parking lots nearby, we highly recommend using the hotel's dedicated parking
rather than wasting precious vacation time searching for an open spot.

The parking fee at Richmond Hotel is ~$7 (1,000 JPY) per day.
If you pay at check-in, you can enjoy unlimited in-and-out privileges throughout your stay,
giving you total peace of mind.
Finding a hotel in Naha that offers both incredible value
and a freshly renovated, modern interior is a rare find.

Richmond Hotel is a trusted 3-star business hotel brand in Japan,
known for its reliable service and quality.
With its grand reopening on July 13th,
it is bound to become one of the most highly sought-after spots in town.
If you are planning a family trip to Okinawa, want a spacious triple room,
and need easy rental car access,
be sure to put Richmond Hotel Naha Kumoji at the top of your list!
