Discover République, LA's Michelin-recognized brunch spot! Get insider tips on their must-try menu items and essential parking advice for a perfect visit in 2026.

Hello, everyone! This is Ongsang.
When you think of brunch in LA,
there are quite a few famous spots.

Among them, République
was recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2025.
The ambiance is simply wonderful,
and the food is incredibly delicious,
it's a place I've visited twice already!
I'll share information on menu recommendations, parking, and more!

République's exterior and interior!
They're so beautiful, aren't they?
This building was actually built by Charlie Chaplin in 1929.
After its time as La Brea Bakery,
it transformed into the République we know today.
The interior, with its high ceilings and abundant natural light,
rather than feeling like a fine dining establishment,
it feels more like a European cafe.

The space is divided into two sections: a casual bakery and cafe area at the front,
and a more formal dining space towards the back.
République Menu |

When you order at the entrance,
they'll give you a cup with a number.
Just take this cup and find any seat you like!

Since the chef changes the menu daily, following a seasonal approach,
you'll get to discover different dishes every time you visit.

My mom, who often complains that all American food is 'too greasy,'
I ordered Kimchi Fries, hoping to please her.
But she said this was also greasy,
so it all ended up in my mouth, haha!

Seriously, the French toast is incredible.
You simply *have* to order it!
I actually managed to get it on my second try,
because it was sold out the first time I went,
and I couldn't get my hands on it, sadly! ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I've sampled quite a few things on different visits,
but what really stood out to me was the pie.
They change their pie selection seasonally!

Oh, and I noticed a lot of people order the Eggs Benedict too.
I thought this was delicious too!

Just a heads-up, though – the food can generally be
a little on the rich side,
so definitely pair it with an Iced Americano or a latte!

To help cut through that richness,
I once ordered a lime bar,
but it was way too sour for my taste, I could only manage one bite...
If you're a fan of tart flavors, then go for it!
République Parking Information |
Valet parking is conveniently located on the south side of the restaurant.
· Brunch/Lunch $14
· Dinner $17
The Curbstand app makes it super easy to
pay and request your car, which is incredibly convenient.
I actually ended up circling the neighborhood a couple of times
and luckily found a spot with two hours of free parking
before parking.
On weekdays, it's definitely worth looking for free parking,
but unless you arrive super early on the weekend,
finding street parking or
metered spots on the weekend
is incredibly difficult.
Ongsang's Pro Tips |
If you're concerned about waiting for brunch,
the sweet spot on weekends is between 9:15 and 9:45 AM,
as the wait is usually shorter then.
I arrived around 10:30 AM once
and walked right in without a wait.
But by around noon, while I was still eating,
the place got absolutely swamped,
and people were actually standing next to my table
waiting... talk about pressure! ;;
This timing is also ideal for finding
free street parking spots nearby!
I haven't personally been for dinner,
but for dinner, I highly recommend making an OpenTable reservation
in advance.

French Toast, pies, and Eggs Benedict are highly recommended. Please note that the French Toast can often sell out. Overall, the food tends to be on the richer side, so it's advisable to order an Americano or Latte to accompany your meal.
Valet parking is available on the south side of the restaurant. The cost is ~$14 for brunch/lunch and ~$17 for dinner. While it might be possible to find free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood on weekdays, it is very difficult on weekends.
