With autumn’s vibrant colors painting the landscape, it’s a shame to let any day pass by without soaking it all in. That’s why my family and I headed to Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park (평택시농업생태원) recently, to revel in the season's splendor.
I first visited in Fall 2024 and absolutely loved it, so a return trip was a must. While the cosmos flowers have mostly faded this year, the park is currently a breathtaking spectacle of plump, crimson Kochia plants in full bloom!
Come along as I share our delightful day enjoying the autumn scenery and having a blast at the playground with the kids.

Recommended Itinerary for Families with Kids
If you’re visiting Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park with your little ones, here’s a perfect route:
Begin with a stroll through the Writer’s Garden (작가정원) and Water Garden (물의정원), then stop by the Animal Farm (동물농장) to see the rabbits.
Next, head to the area in front of the Rural Culture Experience Center (농촌문화체험관) for beautiful photos amidst the flowers and Kochia.
Afterward, let the kids burn off energy at the Children’s Playground (어린이 놀이터).
Before heading home, enjoy some kite flying or ball games on the Lawn Plaza (잔디마당), and then grab some fresh produce at the Local Food Market (로컬푸드) for a truly complete day!
Crimson Cotton Candy: Kochia Fields

Our first stop was the area in front of the Rural Culture Experience Center to see the stunning Kochia.

While the delicate cosmos flowers had unfortunately passed their peak, the Kochia was absolutely at its prime.

More fluffy and vibrant than pink muhly grass, Kochia offers a unique charm, distinct from traditional autumn foliage.

Walking through the clusters of Kochia, which truly resemble fluffy red cotton candy, made us feel completely immersed in the beauty of autumn.

There are also several photo zones scattered throughout the fields.

With charming horse sculptures available for kids to climb on for pictures, it was a huge hit with my children.
Interestingly, the flower meaning of Kochia is said to be 'pure beauty' and 'humility.'
Water Garden (물의정원)

Although I’ve visited Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park many times, this was my first time exploring the Water Garden, and I was impressed by how beautifully designed it was.
This garden is designed to symbolize Pyeongtaek’s four national rivers and its vast agricultural plains, with water as its central theme.
It was a lovely spot for a light family stroll.
Animal Farm (동물농장)

At the Animal Farm, you can see various animals like rabbits, peacocks, and pheasants.
Kids absolutely love feeding rabbits, so it’s a great idea to bring some dried carrots or cabbage from home.

If you forget to pack snacks for the animals, don't worry! You can purchase feed directly at the Local Food Market within the park.
Dodammau Playground (도담마루 놀이터) & Sand Play

The Dodammau Playground is truly impressive, with a vast array of play equipment designed for various age groups.

The long hill slide offers a thrilling ride, and there are plenty of options for younger children too.
When visiting the Agricultural Ecology Park, sand play tools are an absolute must-have!
Kids can get completely absorbed in the sandpit, and an hour or two can fly by in an instant. Bringing a mat, a change of clothes, and sand toys will make your visit much more relaxed and enjoyable.
What to Bring to Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park

✔️ A picnic blanket or camping chairs (it can be tough to snag an empty gazebo or bench)
✔️ Sliced carrots or cabbage (for feeding the rabbits)
✔️ Sand play toys, a change of clothes, and a hat
✔️ Water, drinks, and simple snacks

Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park offers an amazing experience, complete with an excellent playground, animal encounters, and beautiful autumn walking trails, all for free admission and parking.
It’s the perfect spot for a weekend outing with the kids, especially now, with the Kochia and autumn leaves painted in their most vibrant colors.
Before the weather gets too chilly, throw on a warm jacket and plan your autumn adventure!
