Your Guide to Getting to Plaza Inn Amedia Wien
📍 Plaza Inn Amedia Wien
Landstraßer Hauptstraße 155, 1030 Wien, Austria
📍 St. Marx
1030 Vienna, Austria
Previously, Google Maps and Agoda listed it as Best Western Plus, leading me to believe it was part of that chain.
However, upon my visit, I discovered it's not a Best Western Plus.
It's currently known as Plaza Inn Amedia Wien, belonging to the local Amedia chain in Europe.
Public Transportation Directions |
From the airport, take OBB S7 and get off at St. Marx → walk approximately 600m or transfer to bus 74A. |

I trusted Google Maps' directions and got off at St. Marx, then walked to the hotel, pulling my luggage along.
Later, I found out that if you transfer to bus 74A at the stop right in front of St. Marx and get off at Petrusgasse station, it takes you directly to the hotel entrance.
The bus comes quite frequently, so if you have a lot of luggage, I highly recommend taking it.

The hotel's exterior is quite unassuming, so you might walk past it if you're not paying close attention.
There's a LIDL supermarket on the ground floor, so if you look for the supermarket, you'll find the hotel more easily.

1. Booking Information
When I travel, I usually use Google Maps to compare hotel locations and prices, taking into account my planned itinerary.
Among them, I ended up booking the Plaza Inn Amadia Wien Hotel because
its location was super convenient for getting to and from the airport and around the city,
and the price seemed really reasonable compared to its ratings.
I didn't realize it when I booked,
but it turned out a European holiday coincided with my visit,
which made the prices a bit higher.
I booked a room only, without breakfast,
and since the twin room was slightly cheaper than the double,
I went with the twin room.
[I recommend Agoda for booking great value hotels in Vienna!]

2. Lobby and Common Areas

When I first walked into the hotel, I was a bit surprised because the lobby wasn't immediately visible.
It caught me off guard for a moment!
But following the arrows, I found the front desk and lobby tucked away further inside.
After a quick passport check, I was able to check in right away,
and checking out was super easy too.

Behind the front desk, there were some sofas,
but I didn't really have a reason to venture that far in.

At the very back of the lobby was the breakfast restaurant,
but since I didn't opt for breakfast, I didn't use it.

On my last day, I stored my luggage at the hotel after checking out.
They use a large storage room behind the lobby for luggage,
and it's a self-service system where they just give you a door lock key.
I had a suitcase with a combination lock,
so I only took minimal security precautions.
There were tables, chairs, and other items around,
so it seemed some people were even using bicycle locks to secure their bags.
Since they don't take responsibility for lost or stolen items,
I highly recommend keeping your valuables with you.
In my case, when I came to pick up my luggage,
it was still safely there, exactly where I left it.
3. Room and Bathroom

Once you're inside the hotel, the elevators are on your left,
and you have to go through another door to the right to reach the lobby.
Normally, I'd just use the elevator
to go straight to my room, so there's no real need to stop by the lobby.

I was assigned to the 4th floor,
and you could definitely tell the hotel, including the room corridors, had some age to it.

I was assigned a room at the very end of the corridor,
and when I opened the door, a vibrant red hue filled the interior.
Maybe it's because I've only been traveling to Japan recently,
but the room interior felt more spacious than I expected, which was great.

While the bed felt a tad cozy,
it was incredibly soft and spotless, guaranteeing a wonderful night's sleep!
With convenient charging outlets on both sides of the bed,
plus switches and lights to easily adjust the room's ambiance,
it was super convenient to use.

The TV only offered local channels and wasn't a smart TV, so
I barely touched it, opting instead for my trusty iPad.
A small table and chair were also a thoughtful addition,
perfect for those moments when you just want to enjoy some ramen!

The table came with a coffee maker, tea, and cups,
but I'd heard so many mixed reviews about coffee makers in European hotels,
I actually brought my own along and used that instead.
Right by the door, you'll find a wardrobe, hangers, and a safe,
and the wardrobe proved super useful!
Since I didn't request daily cleaning during my two-night stay,
I didn't end up using the safe.
The room didn't come with indoor slippers,
so I was glad I packed my own. My personal tip for you:
definitely bring a pair of indoor slippers!

My absolute favorite feature? The wonderfully large window!
You could tilt it open slightly for a refreshing breeze,
or swing it wide open sideways.
It was fantastic for airing out the room after a meal,
and with such beautiful weather and fresh air,
I kept it open, even just a crack, throughout the day.

The bathroom seemed to have undergone a bit of a remodel,
and I could use it without any major issues.
I heard the hotel sauna is complimentary,
but I wasn't told about it during check-in, so I only found out later
and unfortunately didn't get to experience it.
It's not a traditional bathhouse with large soaking tubs,
but rather a dry sauna and shower facilities.
So, if you're a sauna enthusiast, definitely check it out!

While no extensive amenities are provided,
you'll find a combined body and hair shampoo, hand wash,
and a hairdryer.
The provided shampoo felt a little stiff on my hair,
so I opted for the products I brought from home.
And for my hair, I even brought my Dyson Airwrap along!
As most of my itinerary outside Vienna involved Airbnbs,
I packed a variety of essentials, just to be on the safe side.
While the hotel's basic amenities are certainly usable,
you might find them a little less than ideal, so it's good to keep that in mind for your own comfort.
4. The Ground Floor Supermarket

A bus stop right in front, along with the large windows in the room
The biggest reason I recommend Plaza Inn Amadia Wien is
the local supermarket, LIDL, located on the first floor.
Beyond just this supermarket on the first floor,
you'll find SPAR and HOFER within a 5-minute walk,
and even a large DM drugstore, which is fantastic.
After checking in, I could easily purchase water, beer, flat peaches, snacks, and more
affordably and conveniently.
However, do note that stores close at 8 PM,
and they are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
So, make sure to stock up on essentials beforehand!
