Sokcho Indoor Adventures: Perfect for Families!
Pinodia Da Vinci & Michelangelo Museum

I've always stuck to my usual spots in Sokcho, so I never really explored what else the city had to offer. But during this trip, I completely fell in love with the charm around Sokcho's Cheongchoho Lake.
I stayed for two nights and three days at an accommodation overlooking Cheongchoho Lake, where I enjoyed strolls around the lake and visited the raw fish center. But the most impressive place I visited was the Pinodia Museum.

Space Upcycling
From a neglected space to a multi-cultural complex
Pinodia is located across from Sokcho Expo Tower.
It was originally used as the main pavilion for the 1999 Sokcho Tourism Expo, but after the expo, it was left neglected for a long time. It has now been reborn as a multi-cultural complex capable of hosting performances and exhibitions.

Since it was originally an expo exhibition hall, the interior is definitely spacious with many open areas, making it perfectly optimized for exhibitions.
The exhibition hall is divided into the Da Vinci Museum and the Michelangelo Museum. You can choose to book tickets for just one museum, or purchase a combined pass.

A combined admission ticket for adults is ~$22, but if you pre-book on Naver, you can get it at a discounted price of ~$15.
You might still feel it's a bit pricey compared to typical exhibition halls, but considering all the exhibits were produced in Italy and you can see a comprehensive collection of Da Vinci's and Michelangelo's works in one place, I believe it's well worth the value.

Da Vinci's Diverse Research and Inventions
Da Vinci Museum

The Da Vinci Museum allows you to encounter various works by Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian inventor and artist. It's a space where you can engage in diverse experiences, reflecting Da Vinci's profound research and achievements across fields like science and technology, medicine, philosophy, art, and civil engineering.

You can have a very engaging experience by directly manipulating the research models of joint and muscle movements, which were the precursors to robot technology that has become a complete reality today.

If you're traveling with kids and find it challenging to spend a lot of time in an exhibition hall, and you have to choose just one between the Da Vinci Museum and the Michelangelo Museum, I think the Da Vinci Museum is a better choice for kids.

On the second floor, the experience room offers educational tools for making arches, playing with various cubes, and even deciphering puzzles. It's truly hands-on fun!

An Exhibition You Can Explore at a Glance
Michelangelo Museum
Alongside Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo is revered as one of the three greatest artists of the Renaissance era, and he, too, left behind a vast body of work spanning architecture, sculpture, painting, and more.
To think you can see the masterpieces of both Da Vinci and Michelangelo without ever needing to board a plane!

While nothing quite compares to seeing the original masterpieces in person at their historical sites, the emotional impact and inspiration that cultural and artistic spaces like this can offer to the local children is immeasurable.
It truly feels like an invaluable asset for the citizens of Sokcho.

And of course, it's a wonderful experience for travelers visiting the area too!

My only regret is that towards the end, we were short on time and had to rush through everything.

This is truly a perfect spot for families with kids, especially as an indoor destination
on hot or rainy days.
After your visit, why not take a lovely stroll around Cheongchoho Lake's walking path and the park,
or even explore the Expo Tower?

The more I explore the Cheongchoho Lake area, the more I realize what an amazing place it is
for families traveling with children.
With parks, a cinema, and exhibition halls, plus the Sokcho Terminal nearby,
the location truly couldn't be better!
If you're planning a trip to Sokcho with your little ones, I wholeheartedly recommend this spot!
