If you've ever spent time in Debrecen, Hungary, you already know that finding fresh, high-quality seafood is next to impossible. That's why, on my recent trip across the border to Timișoara, Romania, I made it my absolute mission to satisfy my seafood cravings. After searching for the best spots in town, I decided to check out Pescada, a highly rated local seafood restaurant!

As soon as I arrived, I was charmed by the beautiful garden exterior. With a lovely little pond and a wonderfully styled outdoor terrace, the ambiance immediately set the mood for a relaxing evening.
Since the weather was absolutely perfect, I grabbed a table on the outdoor terrace. Looking over the menu, I was thrilled to see a massive variety of options, ranging from grilled fresh fish and clam pasta to octopus dishes and rich risottos.
You can easily access the menu by scanning a QR code at your table. It's available in both English and Romanian, which made ordering a breeze.

Sirloin with Green Pepper Sauce and Vegetables
The presentation was spot on, served with a colorful garnish of potatoes, tomatoes, and zucchini. The rich, creamy sauce featured whole green peppercorns, which did a fantastic job of cutting through the richness. Though I asked for medium-rare, it came out closer to medium, but it was still incredibly tender and easy to eat.
Octopus Salad
To be completely honest, I'm not usually the biggest fan of cold octopus salads. But I have to give credit where credit is due: the octopus itself was cooked beautifully. It wasn't chewy at all, boasting a wonderfully tender and springy texture.
Seafood Risotto
This tomato-based risotto came loaded with octopus, mussels, squid, and baby shrimp. Unfortunately, this was a miss for me—it was incredibly salty. The heavy seasoning overpowered the delicate seafood flavors, so we ended up leaving quite a bit of this behind.
Spaghetti with Vongole
A classic clam-heavy pasta! The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and infused with a rich, briny clam flavor. It was a very solid, classic choice. Interestingly, the pasta noodles had a unique, square-shaped cross-section!
Onion Rings
The unexpected star of the night! These were fried to absolute perfection—incredibly crispy, golden, and savory. It's safe to say these were the highlight of my meal!
The Verdict: Is Pescada Worth It?
While Pescada might not offer a mind-blowing, Michelin-level culinary experience, the food overall was decent and satisfying.
If you're traveling from landlocked regions like Debrecen where fresh seafood is scarce, simply having access to such a diverse Mediterranean menu is a wonderful treat. It is a fantastic spot if you want to enjoy a relaxing meal surrounded by a lush, green garden atmosphere in Timișoara.

The Seafood risotto is a tomato-based dish containing octopus, mussels, squid, and small shrimp, but it tends to be very salty. The Spaghetti with vongole is infused with a clam flavor and features uniquely textured, square-cut pasta.
