The exterior is incredibly beautiful and aesthetically pleasing,
both 10 years ago and now,
its timeless color palette still catches my eye.

Isn't the shop absolutely gorgeous?

2] Laduree: Where the Macaron Was Born

Laduree was a patisserie opened by Louis Ernest Laduree in Paris in 1862.
That's more than 160 years ago now...
It's truly an ancient establishment.
Initially, it sold chiffon-style cakes without cream,
but in 1930, his nephew-in-law, Pierre Desfontaines,
devised the method of filling two meringue shells with ganache cream,
and that's how the 'macaron' as we know it today was born.
So, this is truly the original home of the macaron, right? 😉
In the late 19th century, the founder's wife
created one of Paris's first tearooms,
and it became a place where Parisian women could freely meet and socialize.

The mint-toned Belle Époque-style interior
has also become a signature of this brand, continuing since then.
It entered Korea through Shinsegae Department Store in 2012,
but withdrew in 2017.
Personally, I found Laduree's macarons more delicious than the 'Ddungcarons' (fat macarons) popular in Korea,
but perhaps because there are so many excellent macaron shops in Korea,
it ended up withdrawing... which is such a shame.
3] Shop Atmosphere

As you open the door and step inside, your eyes are immediately drawn to the mint-toned, classic interior.
While browsing the macarons and other desserts was certainly enjoyable,
I also loved the joy of exploring every corner of the interior.
Although there are several Laduree branches across Paris,
the unique, antique charm of the flagship store was definitely different.
True to its reputation as one of Paris's first tearooms, the Salon de Thé space
felt like being invited into an aristocrat's home.

The gorgeous Laduree packaging boxes
were displayed inside the walls.

These are the boxes you can take home if you order for takeaway now.
At Laduree, everything from the boxes to the shopping bags
is beautiful.
That makes them perfect for gifting!

This is where you pay.
Every single detail of the interior decor and accessories...
Isn't it all just stunning? Especially the colors! 👍🏻
The staff were incredibly friendly too! 🤍

🍓 Ispahan
Do you see that dessert in the back that looks like a giant pink macaron, filled with strawberries?
That, my friends, is Ladurée's signature dessert, the 'Ispahan'!
Its shell is larger than a regular macaron, the cream is packed with fresh whole raspberries, and it's topped with an edible rose petal – a true visual masterpiece! They say the freshness of the raspberries combined with the rose scent creates a wonderfully vibrant flavor.

The other desserts are also stunning enough to make your head spin!
The colors, in particular, really catch your eye,
and they're displayed so beautifully, it just begs to be photographed!

I almost impulse-bought everything,
but I was content to just feast my eyes on them.
5] How to Order

✅ Line up, and when a staff member asks in order,
"How would you like to purchase?"
tell them the flavors and quantities.
✅ Once your order is complete, receive the paper they give you and wait.

✅ Head to the checkout and submit your paper.

The wall with the floral 'L' is where the checkout counter is located.
✅ Receive your macarons and make your payment.

Ta-da!
I only bought 5, but look!
They packaged them in this gorgeous paper bag...
The paper bag is so beautiful, I carefully folded it to keep as a souvenir.
I tucked them away in my suitcase.
At first, I hadn't thought to do that and just carried them around,
which, to be honest, led to them getting a little squished... 😥

Right in front of the shop, there were also seats where you could soak up the outdoor sunshine while enjoying your treats.
So, you can imagine the cafe has both a lovely indoor space and a charming outdoor area!

We had a morning photoshoot and walked quite a bit,
so our energy levels were running a little low!
We immediately found a bench right out front and indulged.

Personally, my absolute favorite, as always,
was the Salted Caramel!

Thinking back 10 years, there was a time when I wasn't really a macaron person,
but Ladurée was the place that truly opened my eyes to their magic...
And, of course, they were just as delicious as I remembered!
Since this is also considered one of the birthplaces of macarons,
if you're ever traveling to Paris, France,
I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the Ladurée flagship store and indulging in at least one.
It's sure to become a cherished memory! 🧡
